Ecamm Live Behind the Scenes of a Show with 6 Skype Guests

This is a behind the scenes look at a technical dry run of a fundraising campaign. I initially had 9 Skype callers on the 1st dry run because there were a few others involved with the planning. In this video, I go over some tips and tricks I learned with Ecamm Live. Overall, I've been super impressed with how well Ecamm Live works. I used to use Boinx MimoLive back in the day and it had an awesome title generator. If Ecamm can incorporate some of the titling, iPhone sharing, preview, and backstage functionality - while keeping it simple, this will just be the ultimate streaming software for Mac!

Is there a way to record multiple audio tracks separately? Like audio only? I need to record 3-4 Skype guests audio only but want them to be recorded as separate tracks

This video has been a real help. I have tried to recreate this setup and everything is working fine except for one issue. The Skype video quality is coming into Ecamm at 180p - 240p. My camera is at 1080 (of course). Your video looks much clearer. I've had users shutdown all other apps and I've checked their internet connection (most have at least 10mb down / 4mb up - ethernet). I'm wondering, what am I missing here?

Not sure if this is necessary, but I go to my homefolder/library and empty the following directories: cache, logs, and saved application state. I then restart then empty the trash. Then I only have Skype and Ecamm open. These files are all temporary.

Your videos are amazing! I need your help with a similar setup with Ecamm Live and Zoom with three guests. My setup worked when I streamed directly to KZbin, but when it went to zoom from Ecamm Live, I couldn't see everybody's cameras. I don't have the Blackmagic monitor, so I couldn't use my capture device, and I'm wondering if that could be the issue?

Great and interesting setup, I wish you can elaborate more on how did you do the audio setup, the skype call could hear you but not going live to ecamm when I stream. Because on ecamm it will combined all Skype audio to one channel and sent it to ecamm.

Hi, I’m not sure what issue you are running into?

His audio doesn't go into the broadcast because Ecamm is only pulling in the incoming audio from his Skype guests and not his outgoing audio to Skype. He also has himself muted in Ecamm, so that it doesn't get picked up that way. If you are hearing your own voice getting picked up by Skype and coming back into the stream then maybe someone isn't wearing headphones?

@@berchaunclark3967 It was a little hard for me to tell from the original question if the issue he was having was due to his audio being sent directly to the stream via ecamm, or if he was hearing a echo of himself from the far end users, in which case using headphones or turning the volume down are potential fixes. If the audio he was hearing was coming directly from ecamm and his mic, then the solution is to mute your own mic in ecamm itself, which is one of the options on a per scene basis, he points this out in the video at around 4:25. As far as routing audio in loopback I haven't looked at it recently enough to give you the specifics offhand, my suggestion would be to download the loopback trial and get a friend on a skype call to test out some different configurations, I found that I was able to figure out how to get it to do what I wanted after a half hour or so of fiddling, sorry that I can't remember the details of the specific setup. Jason Martin my 5k iMac is old but it has 32gb of ram and a discrete graphics card. I have a slow upload speed, Xfinity gigabit which gets about 9Mbps up. Since upload speed is so slow I limit the resolution to 720p.

First off great video! It is very helpful to see your whole setup when bringing in Skype guests. I did have a question regarding the audio. I just downloaded Ecamm Live (Pro versions) and did a test run with a guest I will have for an livestream event coming up, but couldn't hear him in my headphones. In our office we are using a Yamaha Mixer (MG10XU) for our audio as we run multiple mics. When I did the dry run our guest could hear us but we couldn't hear him unless we unplugged the mixer from the computer then we could hear him through the computers speakers. Although, his audio was being sent out to our test livestream (which is good), but if I can't hear him that's no bueno. I was interested at looking into Loopback as you said it is very helpful, but do you think that could potentially help me out in my situation? Would you have any recommendations? Thanks!

Yes, loopback will help route audio from your different apps to the monitor of your choice. Well worth the investment!
