Jockos leadership principles have made such an impact how i have viewed my job. Most would view it as trivial to be a general manager for a restaurant, but looking at the position as a place to serve and steer lives has made all the difference; for myself as well as them.

I believe every boss or leader of every level needs to listen to stuff like this. I've had a lot of different jobs in the last 15 years. Some were amazing places to work, some were too lax and let people get away with anything, and others too strict and controlling. I noticed that when the balance was off in either direction, productivity just tanks.

The more I dogest Jocko's words, the more I learn. I have heard podcast after podcast but it takes experience to yield the fruit of what he tells us. These principles are integral. They make me view leadership above me at my job differently. They make me viee the chores and jobs I give my 9 and 5 year old to do. Responsibility is power!

Up down and across the chain of command reminds me of John Maxwell's 360 degree Leader. It's so powerful because most people don't use it or understand it. Thanks for the reminder.

2:33 it is a co dependant relationship or one of entrapment like entangled. Manipulated by a parent or guardian at a young age by a person who wants to stifle their prosperity instead of help it grow. A new kinda third world entrapment excused for lack of motivation. Competition is good for growth, team building skills, is even better. Too much competition in an team going the same way causes ego trips and dick swinging contests that distract from the focus of the mission. Take heed of your black sheep. They can teach you just as much as your set backs, set ups, and let downs. Open yourself fully to every experience and personal and inter personal situations will settle naturally as they should

A husband's job is to lead his family, and serve his wife. Not to make them more independently capable or autonomous. It might be a good way to lead a team, but not a family.
