I absolutely love that Subaru went out of his way to avoid saying anything cliche, so it wouldn't sound half-hearted or in the moment. He basically just told Beatrice how cool of a person she is and that he'll be there for her as long as he physically can. Sometimes that's all a person needs to hear.

just want to add some remarks about the word "boku" 僕. Sometimes you will heard it in a song sing by girls as well. And many japanese thought it was just a word used by young boys. BUTTTTT originally it was used when you are infront of the emperor or someone you serve. So originally you will want to use it infront of someone you respect. The original usage of it was forgotten and thought it should be used by young boys because japanese are sort of taught themselves to used boku when you are with senpai. (senpai is not just meant for upperclassman, original meaning also includes anyone who are older than you) This is why in some of the songs the girls will sing boku. So to "place herself in a lower status"

That was an interesting food for thought!!! Because of that a thought had came across my mind again. In the web novel, when Garfiel undergo his trial...she uses watashiwa in referring herself. But then when Emilia came to do her trials, she uses "Bu ko" once again...the same word she used to refer herself with Subaru and the other witches... When I first notice it, it intrigue me a bit...but since I have no solid explanation on why..I disregarded it in my thoughts and now after learning this...it came back to me and had now sees it an interesting take... Using Buko infront of Subaru is understandable because of her intentions...but what about Emilia? She claimed to hate her and have disgusted by her...and yet...she do such a thing. Aside from that, she is also the one who made Puck for the purpose of being with Emilia. So this is indeed intriguing to me... It seems like Echidna's action is contradicting what she says.

I prefer it that way honestly. I feel like dying by the hand of Garfiel is more appropriate than dying from fire after becoming a disgusting mess of limbs (also why would she chase Subaru? I don't think she's attached to her orders as much as to go to that extent for them (especially since Subaru wasn't even mentioned by the order of Roswal anyway), if anyone she should chase Garfiel). Also, it would have felt repetitive with how Betelgeuse died.

I do really like the repeated usage of "choose me" emphasizing that in the end, all this really does have to be Beatrice's choice. Subaru can't swoop in and save her. He can't declare himself "that person" for her and take her away. She has to be the one to make the decision. She is the only person who get get her out of that library. That works so well with Subaru's character development, too. Basically the entirety of season 1 and a big part of Parent and Child (still probably the best episode of the show to date) is Subaru learning that the only way for you to change is if you decide to do it. Other people can help you make that decision and can provide you support, but they can't do it for you. Now season 2 has been him using that lesson to help those around him. First Emelia, now Beatrice. Their specific needs were different, but both needed to make that choice.

This episode of of ReZero almost made me cry. I have to say, this anime has really helped me get through 2020 and 2021 so far. Love how the studio is willing to put out 30min+ episodes just to do the series right. This is one of those rare occasions where I think the anime may have benefitted from cutting content. Elsa having a definitive and memorable on-screen death and the increased purity of Subaru's motivation for busting through that last door make for greater emotional resonance and pacing IMO. Elsa reappearing would have been a bit cheap, especially after we had to wait so many episodes to see her comeuppance.

Damn, you have really polished your editing/humor to a fine art. If you are still looking for suggestions on more anime to cover after Re:Zero until the next season, I highly recommend Mob Psycho 100. It really reminds me of One Punch Man but with intentionally bad animation for some scenes, and really good animation for others. It's really funny too, and I've never heard anyone talk about it at all on KZbin. Not to say no one has covered it, but it could be worth it. You should give it a watch to see if you like it.

It's interesting to me that even though echidna made it seem like she could care less about Beatrice, she still told her to grow healthily and take care of herself, so she might not be as heartless as she seems and to care for Beatrice, to some degree. Still a horrible mother tho. Poor Betty :( but now at least she has subaru, yay!
