I really liked Michael Clark Duncan as Fisk in the Daredevil movie (with Ben Affleck). He was more massive and violent, but nowhere as cruel and calculating as D'Onofrio. Great casting both times, but if I had to choose I would pick D'Onofrio as the best version.

This is a show that would have benefited from 1 or 2 more episodes Regardless - I am so here for this show I’m loving this new direction for the MCU One last comment / this show has so many fleshed out characters Everyone has weight and it makes the show so much richer for it For example - the man and woman who work for black crow - you could feel their terror at what was happening - they were barely on screen for a minute yet they had presence

Absolutely loving the show, and loving the breakdowns too! I was wondering about the interpreter that Fisk hired every time I saw her! That question has been answered! This episode in particular was a study in the dynamics of an abusive relationship, especially how limiting communication is used as a form of control. I've heard post-colonial theorists analyse the relationship between postcolonial nations (e.g. Ireland, First Nations) with their colonisers (e.g. England, USA) in terms of a personal abusive relationship. The colonised people are still dependent on their colonisers for so much, even after official colonisation has ended. And we speak English in Ireland for the same reasons as many deaf people were forbidden from using sign languages in special schools for generations.

One note I wanted to make is the actress that portrays Bonnie is also in the series Reservation Dogs which has a different tribe living in Oklahoma. 2 other actors from Reservation Dogs portray Mays"s father and the other was the MC at the Poctaw. It's fun to learn where have i seen that person before

When he removed his eye bandage, the subtitles for this episode said something along the lines of "MECHANICAL SOUNDS" or "SOUND OF GEARS TURNING." Something like that. Leading me to believe that the eye was new and mechanical, as nothing else in the room would have made that sound, I don't think.

Alaqua Cox can carry such emition with just her facial expressions -- no words needed. Her, Vincent D'Onofrio, and Darnell Besaw -- these three should get all the awards! We haven't seen Spiderman in this part of the MCU yet. Could we see Miles Morales, instead of some form of Peter Parker, here? "Pop"? "Soda"? Nah. Here in the south we call them all a coke, and then specify which one. (Personally I have a mild addiction to Dr Pepper.) Not only does Kingpin have a scar over an eye, it's the same eye as Scar.

To Ryan's point of wanting more of the story, I'm convinced that Fisk had the brake lines cut on the truck. Eliminate the mom, force the father to go to NYC. Maybe the original intent was not to get to Mya at that point, but it worked out in the end.

I'd say this show is really good but very flawed. They should take what worked here and keep everything they've already planned to change going forward with their shows. I also wanted to say I think this show did Kingpin fantastic. I know people have issues with the Way the final episode handled it but I appreciate that Maya did try and attempt to help her adopted Father Figure ,as toxic as he is, break through his own hell. Deep down Kingpin is still suffering the consequences of what his father did to his mother and he also knows deep down that he is over reactionary and does take things to an extreme level like what he did to the ice cream man and what he did to people who embarrassed him in front of Vanessa. This show really cemented Kingpin as my favorite villain because it reminded me that he isn't just pure evil, but he's a broken and hurt human being. It was the on Perfect Storm that crafted the monster of the Kingpin and attempted to help, but she ultimately failed. Fisk would rather stay lost as a rabbit in a snowstorm.

Ryan, you forgot to mention than when the translator was killed it was another reference to the Netflix series specifically season 3 episode 8. In that episode, Dex pleads with Julie to help him cope with his life seemingly falling apart and Julie agrees to meet him at the hotel where Kingpin was under house arrest, but then Kingpin's men find Julie and kill her with a silencer and wrapping her body in the same type of big plastic sheets that the translator was carried off in.

I was expecting to see, when Maya had that flashback to the truck scene after her mom healed the bird, that Maya would have reached over to join her mom's hands together to activate healing. When the mom couldn't heal herself (the power doesn't activate), it just intensified the grief. Maya's mom didn't save Maya with her power, otherwise she would not have lost her leg.

I agree that the show, like many D+ shows, is too short. My friend and I were saying that we would watch a show that was just about the family, Chula, Skully, Biscuits, Bonnie, Black Crow, etc. Some parts of the series almost had a little bit of a Northern Exposure vibe to it...

I’m surprised you have said much about the similarities between kingpin and thanos. Kingpin has a empire, he’s a big strong smart guy with a lot of emotion like thanos, he has a daughter that’s not biologically his owns but treats her like family, both of them worp there daughters into killing machines to do their bidding, both see what they have become and want to change for the better and fight against the person who pillaged them with the help of people who they both call family. Fisk and Mayas story is very very similar to the story of Thanos and Gamora! It’s very clear that they want Fisk to become the thanos type villain of the street/earth based hero’s which I’m down for.
