ECHO PB-500T Blower Ignition Problem

My ECHO back pack blower died. I show how to check out the Magneto Ignition based on the specifications published by ECHO. In the video I said the armature air gap is .030" to .040". What I meant to say is that the air gap is .30 to .40 mm, which is .012" to .016".

I know it's three years on, but your video helped me to establish that the coil on my blower was at fault (PB-580T). I found that the primary was OPEN - no circuit at all. Replacement went in without issue, and the unit now starts and runs just fine. Thanks! (While i could not get the "Service Information" sheet for my unit - or any other, for that matter - the Service Information sheet you showed on camera was also of assistance.) Thanks again!

Thank you for the video. After checking my coil. It's bad. Called my power equipment supply. Echo has life time warranty on their coils.i have one coming for free.

I had a no spark issue coil and on/off switch checked out ended up being a bad brand new spark plug. I’ve never seen one bad right out of the box.

I'm working on a pb-500t as well and when I performed the test you did at 6:50 I came up with 15.9. At 6:22 you mention that a proper reading for the coil is 160 to 200. Given that do you think that the coil in my blower is bad?

Good video but a 3 point spark tester is a quicker way especially if the coil has a rev limiter a multi meter sometimes will not diagnost rev limiters in coils

I'm working on same model blower. When I put red lead to plug wire & black to ground it reads 2.7 same as the two before. I'm stumped with it. Will throw one spark occasionally then nothing. If I switch on then back off it throws one spark & that's it. I've changed/ ordered two coils now & doing the same thing. One spark. Has me aggravated I've check switch, wire continuity, plug is new, everything.

@@krisw5894 never could figure it out. Honestly I think the motor was burnt up because it didn't feel right when pulling the string trying to start it. Only thing I didn't do is change the magnet which makes the spark. I think maybe the cam or something internal was off/broken causing the timing to be off.

@@RDJL559 Idk what's the problem, I replaced the spark plug, the carburetor, air filter, fuel lines. It starts sometimes and idles roughly but at the moment I start to set the acceleration to just idle it does and it wont start until another 2 or 3 days later,maybe it is the ignition coil which is An after market part not the original or it could be the mixture screws from carburetor

You can kill a lot of time with the wrong diagnosis, some times the engine is not breathing.

When the engine don't have the speed and the power, check the muffler screen and the ports first.

I have the same blower it won't start but my ignition coil test readout is 335 and I still get sparks. Can someone tell me what could be the problem again I get sparks and carburetor is new
