Everyone seams to be just plucking the new alveo veras at the bottom of their base and to want the C02 to flow there, but that's treating them as if they were carbon skimmers. I've found that it's good to put them everywhere the CO2 either accumulates or is produced. So one or two in the back of rooms where CO2 tends to get stuck, one next to work stations to eat the co2 from workers, two next to wood heaters, a few along the central ladder and yes of course a bunch at the bottom of the base. When alveo veras aren't eating oxygen, they don't consume ice so nothing is lost. Still, absorbing CO2 early like this means you don't have nearly as much CO2 flowing in your base. It's a good alternative to mesh tiles. Less gas mixing means better oxygen flow. It helps with frame rate too. Plus, alveo veras have a beauty of +15 so it helps with dupe mood a little bit.

@fuzzypumpkin77434 ай бұрын
It's definitely a good idea to plant them in whatever natural pockets you have while you're working on setting something permanent up. This isn't a game where you can have your end-all system working from day 1. It's like with water pooling...yes, it's nice to have all your water pooled in one spot and all the p-water and brine and salt water converted that you don't need in its original form, but you can't keep yourself from researching or farming so you starve and die before you can get there.

>32:20 Excess CO2 pressure will become a problem once it reaches above the threshold for the plants. Don't remember on top of my head, but it's either 10 or 20 kg of atmospheric pressure for most plants. And the thing with the liquid CO2 geyser is that because it outputs liquid that turns to gas right away, it won't necessarily get overpressured.

@fuzzypumpkin77434 ай бұрын
@@mohamedel-sawy4243 Yep, that's what I did in mine. Set the atmo-sensor to open the door if the pressure was below 4,500g. I think they overpressure at 9kg. It's working super well for me. I used it for awhile to oxygenate the base for 9 dupes with 42 alveo veras being auto-harvested (meaning no dupe labor but much slower harvesting) while I worked on a SPOM and other things. Now just using it to oxygenate the area they ranch/farm and storing oxylite for rockets later. The CO2 geyser could probably support twice the alveo vera, I just don't need that and am working on other projects at the moment.

Takes some skill to properly deep fry. Otherwise you can over cook the surface and undercook the core. You have to know the correct temperature to cook things at so you get it cooked through without it reaching the point it starts absorbing oil. Just throwing stuff in oil is how you get soggy, oily food. And if thats all you have ever had from deep fried food I can understand you not realizing that is bad. But such food is a sign the person doing the cooking is not doing it correctly.

You could also use the "mercury" as a liquid lock. Because of the poor heat conductivity, it can also be used as a liquid barrier. Keeping the heat separate from the cold parts of the biome. It can be also used as a (Liquid) Storage pool, keeping polluted ice cold locked as an example. I use mine to store excess oxylite, bleachstone, polluted dirt, etc. Also it seems to have a rapid cooling effect on vents, metal volcanoes as such it has a low probability of flash boiling into a gas upon exposure to extreme heat. It can also be used as "catching" pool for meteors. Cools anything hot i.e. regolith meteors, etc. Nice Video as always. :) PS: your also correct on some meteors carrying plant seeds. Also as a coolant in a liquid cooling loop, it might be a total challenge to keep it from changing states. Also as a liquid radiation shielding ?
@KaedysKor2 ай бұрын
What on earth do you mean, "poor heat conductivity"? In terms of commonly available liquids, mercury is second only to supercoolant on thermal conductivity, at 8.3 vs supercoolant's 9.46 (which is then behind only molten lead, copper, aluminum, niobium, and steel), and wildly ahead of water's pitiful 0.609. In fact, mercury's thermal conductivity makes it an excellent _transmitter_ of heat, which is very nice for cooling things in a vacuum (such as, for example, putting a layer of mercury at the base of steam engines with radiant pipes running through it). It has rather low specific heat capacity, so not exactly amazing as a _coolant_ (ie. something you put in the pipes you run through an aquatuner), but it's thermal conductivity is actually amazing. You're going to have a very bad day if you try to use it to thermally insulate stuff. However, it does make a solid liquid lock. Actually, so does nectar, allowing stable liquid locks down to around -80 C when combined with ethanol, which is quite a bit below where crude oil and petroleum freeze.

And Instead of long automation line you could add convey drop off on multiple places and connect atmo sensory to drop oxylite when pressure is below what you want. Btw aloe vera can get overpressure so i think you will need to add automated air lock between the plant and the CO2 gayser plus mini gass pump at the top to move the oxygen if you had more than 3 tiles. Oh wow my brain keep thinking about how to make the perfect "oxy-train" i think this a good name for it 🤓

Some thoughts: - a meteor catch could be your renewable source of water and ice. So you want one either way. - regarding Bonbon trees in space: Keep in mind that vacuum means there is little to no heat transfer. And the animal might still be producing heat. So make sure there is a way for them to cool off (like a cooled ground?) - the rail should have less issues with oxygen bandwidth. Pipes are limited to 1 kg/s. The Rail can store 20kg of Oxylite, which is worth 10kg of Oxygen. So the rail has 10 times the bandwidth. Fern 10? Because it is based on Ferns and has 10 times the capacity?
@deilusi4 ай бұрын
28:36 that can be a boon as well,as dupes don't have an issue with atmo pressure up to 4kg. if you have some accidental off-gassing up to 3kg, that should be fine it will only stop stuff like bleach from producing chlorine. its interesting challenge, making a system that oxygenate the base above what usual pressure is, and not go above 4kg.

Hey Echo, here's a video idea (if you haven't done that already). I've seen some designs for a Volcano Refinery / Tamer but i've never found a video tutorial for it. It's based on droping metal ores on high temperature volcanoes (normal, iron etc) to tame the volcano while refining the ores, and when you don't need to refine ores you can dump low melting point rocks like sandstone or sedimentary to turn them to igneous, and use the hot debries to make it self powered (at least partially). Also you could name the machine "Express Conveyoured Harvested Oxylite" (I got the acronym idea from another comment)
@Lightman03594 ай бұрын
To save on bridges and 50/50 split stuff, [and a little power] you could have the top platform be fed from the farms and feed the rails, and the bottom be the leftovers from the return line. Alternatively, now that the system is in play, you could just get rid of the bottom pump and dropoff, leaving that area clean for whatever future shipping you KNOW you will eventually put there... Excess oxygen can go into buffer tanks if you plan on expanding into a large suit bay, put the tanks below or above wherever the checkpoints will be, if you want aesthetics [and excessive buffer madness], you can put 1 tank for every 4 docks, or whatever the physical space is, the docks under the tanks are fed by that tank and initially you can set the tanks to 200kg x however many docks it supports [the capacity of a dock] until you get the masks filled. Once the masks are filled for the first time and 1 full reload is banked, you can open up the tanks to full capacity and keep it fed with 1 pipe. This could potentially be done with normal SPOMs or other oxygen setups as well,
