1. Acknowledge and accept that it is there 2. Be with it 3. What is the level of my thinking to the perpetuation that I feel?Ex. ( are the past negative emotions pulling you back to unconsciousness)? (Are you giving energy to negative thoughts or painful narratives by revisiting them in your mind?) 4. Acknowledge they are the habitual thoughts that go through your mind in relation to the feelings 5. Begin to realize that you need to cut the link between the thinking and what you are feeling 6. Cut the link by being aware of your thinking and realize that thinking is pain and it feeds of the old feelings and narrative 7. Realize those thoughts have NO PURPOSE but to make you unhappy, anxious, miserable etc. 8. Observe the thought and feeling and notice how those thoughts& feeling don’t want to go . They want you to be identified with them, and not be conscious of them. 9. Have enough awareness of the process of how it creates further pain ( you being unconscious of it) 10. Now you can no longer be deceived by it because you are now aware you create your own pain 11. Now the pain is no longer fueled by thinking 12. Finally you realize that you don’t have to let go of anything just become aware and it will dissolve on its own IT WILL LEAVE YOU

I've watched hundreds of hours of Eckhart's clips and everytime learn something new, often the same clip multiple times. This one covers most of his teachings in 11 minutes and worth understanding if you want to free yourself from thoughts in general...actually, as he beautifully puts it... "thoughts" let go of you and not you of them. What a beautiful soul. We are blessed. Thank you Eckhart for shedding your light and wisdom on millions of people around the world.
@johngreen46833 жыл бұрын
"Thoughts let go of you" wow like that a lot. Personally I think it's a two way street, we stop taking a repetitive thought seriously and stop paying so much attention to it and giving the thought the interest and attention it needs to survive, then the mind will let go to as it no longer sees the thought as important to our survival. That is just my personal experience of course.
@swhite83813 жыл бұрын
We don’t do a thing . Thoughts come and thoughts go. We can’t hold on to them or let them go. It only appears that way. Everything is just happening without our control. Any idea of control is just another thought appearing . What a wild ride!

Are they blind and deaf and dumb like Joe Biden??? Cant see how the lack of such lessons such calming and pinpoint matters have caused many wars .many suicides .many hostilities. Many Islamic extremism??? I suffered 20 years by addiction 😧 because of depression why depression because my parents thought the world is so serious and didn't understand my feelings. How many addicts we have in the planet ? Drug dealing has caused such a horrific death and attacks and casualties! Look at our neighbouring country Afghanistan if the Americans have killed all previous alqaede or talibs and after almost cleansing the region from such extremists. The main part of budget spent on building schools and universities and taught children the pure knowledge and sprituality like the speeches of eckhart and other enlightened scholars now after 20 years from 9/11 Afghanistan now was full of aware and enlightened young generation and a peaceful environment and in the safe environment every country compete each other to go there and excavate the endless number of emerald and gold And lithium mines. The problem of hunger and unemployment soon vanished. Don't say it is impossible ☝️☝️because it is possible. The whole world are thirsty for happiness. Friendship and security. Teach them such sprituality to eliminate terrorism forever. If only I could have heard a little about such realities in teenage years 😭😭 we are in need of eckhart and eckharts to prevent terrorism

You can always attend your local school board meeting. You don't have to have children in the school. If you're a tax payer you're entitled to be there. These people work for us. We should be demanding, not asking what we want taught to our children. In a similar vane why doesn't the news, any network, take a minute each evening and suggest we help and love one another. Things of that nature. This entire society and world is inverted.
@angelh82623 жыл бұрын
@@Asad-kw3ty Yes, I understand. To begin with we can each do our part. What if we all loved each other? Surely, that is our ultimate goal for a peaceful, happier world. Love does conquer all negative behaviours. We are all wounded children inside, raised by parents who neglected our needs because they were unaware and didn’t know any better as they themselves were damaged by their own experience. We need to accept people do bad things because they have been taught this behaviour. The answer is to show someone a loving response whatever their negative behaviour towards you. Don’t face fire with fire, it resolves nothing. Your strength is in not reacting. Respond to all negative behaviours towards you with a loving, kindness response. This will result in making the best of a bad situation. You may charge your aggressors mindset. Our world leaders and governments need to learn this too. So do teachers in our schools. The world needs a complete reset. Teachers need to be kind and remove the fear children feel, to support them, and praise them. I think we are moving in this direction but change is slow. The law which prevents parents smacking their children is evidence. Anti bullying in schools and the workplace is more evidence we are become a kinder society. Sadly there will always be good and evil in this world, but we can each do our part by doing what is kind to others not what our ego tells us is right. Thankfully, due to the Internet more and more people are learning Eckhart’s teachings and other Spiritual leaders and this will grow. Good luck my friend, I’m so happy for you that you got off the drugs. Give yourself the love and self care you deserve and need to heal your broken heart. Meditation protects us all and keeps us strong.

2:55 Negative feelings operate at one level. They are fed from a higher level of thinking process (mental narrative). You cut off the linkage by recognizing both feelings and thinking, from an even higher level of consciousness. 5:55 You only have to raise yourself to a higher level of consciousness that you prefer. Negative feelings will let you go, you don't have to let go of anything. What's no longer compatible with your level of consciousness will have to let you go. Everyone acts out his level of consciousness. Therefore there is no need to forgive anyone if you already see them from a higher level of consciousness or awareness. Thanks Eckhart. 👍🏆🕊🤓💖🏅🐧🎯

Beliefs are like downloaded software programs that we accepted to be true at some stage in our lives. We unconsciously go on believing even though the circumstances and context of our lives have changed. These habitual thought patterns as Eckhart describes are also known as karma. When we acknowledge our thoughts through awareness and question if they are true we can shine light on whether or not that belief or software program is still applicable in our lives. This is why higher awareness through a consistent meditation practice helps you to let go of old energy patterns (thoughts and beliefs) that no longer serve you. Wishing everyone here a bright and beautiful day!

Allowing and accepting it...then continue to embrace it and delve into it. Where and how does it feel within the body. Delve deeper. Question it. Observe it and look deeply. Understand its roots and origins. Become fully aware of what is happening and why. What are the thoughts, concepts, beliefs, ignorance, misunderstanding, etc. from which it arises? Action and reaction (including negative emotions) arise from our current understanding (or misunderstanding, as the case may be). If the understanding changes, the actions and reactions change.

Such an amazing way to explain our pain bodies and how to eventually watch something that’s deregulated us our whole lives through the agony we’ve experienced around it, dissolve! To realize we cause the hurt ourselves and can be free of it is a miracle. We just have to accept the pain is there and to start being aware of the thought processes that bring on the emotions. We can stop believing the thoughts gradually. This will start to extinguish the negative feelings that we have been suffering from. Soon enough, if we keep practicing this, the pain body dissolves. How about that? Man, he’s something else! Thank you, Eckhart. ❤

One of my students told me that when he discussed his anxieties with someone close to him, like his wife or a close friend, then he found that the moment he started opening up to them, the anxiety decreased-even before he received any advice or support. Togetherness definitely decreases anxiety. There is a saying in the wisdom of Kabbalah that “a sorrow shared is a sorrow halved,” i.e. when we share a sensation, we divide it up, and in turn it becomes more manageable. Since it is quite easy to see how sharing our experiences lessens our negative feelings, the question is why do we not use this ability more? Why is it so hard for us to share our fears and anxieties with others? We are indeed afraid of opening our hearts, letting everyone see that we have certain fears and anxieties. That is, in addition to whatever fears and anxieties we hold within, we usually have additional anxieties about sharing them with others, that it might cause others to perceive us as weak. Since society in general values stronger, smarter, wealthier and fitter individuals, opening up our anxieties to such a society makes us vulnerable to exploitation. We thus need to seek a social environment that would not exploit us for opening up, but would rather give us a sense of faith and confidence that it can help us cope with any negative feelings. A social setting that can guarantee faith and confidence in its members is one that actively draws itself to the upper good and benevolent force-the force of love, bestowal and connection. It is this very same force that awakens negative feelings in us, whether they be fears, anxieties or several other painful sensations, in order for us to draw closer to that force, and we do so by drawing closer to each other. If we wish to connect with the upper force and let its perfect quality of love, bestowal and connection fill our lives with a sensation of faith and confidence, then we need to emulate such a quality toward other people-giving them a sense of faith and confidence, and for them to do the same toward us. By wanting to positively connect with others, we then start awakening the positive force dwelling in nature into the connections we create, and we then feel a new sense of faith and confidence wash away any anxieties that we might be holding within.

I don't know if I had already seen this video but it felt like I learnt completely anew. I like how he went precisely into the process of letting emotions go or rather how they let go of you. This is where I'm still somewhat stuck but I get it now that more and more awareness just washes out all that is untrue. So I have hopes that with curiosity I can actually unravel the painful emotions more and more and as Teal Swan posted just yesterday, what we understand we don't fear anymore. Thus I'm sure I'll feel more capable in dealing with very big and difficult feelings. Thank you so much, Eckhart! 😊🙏🏼 I also loved the insight into his personal story and I can relate, just like so many others who have those love-hate dynamics with their parents and others. It makes me hopeful how he said that the process of healing went for him and how he was able to work through it. Thank you so much! 💜😊

This is very clear and brilliant, it's also what is called in psychology "The Thought trinity" (Introduced by Aaron Beck I believe, the father of CBT therapy) and is common to all human beings, it's at the center of our Joy and Suffering, it works like this : Though -> Emotion -> Behaviour -> Thought -> Emotion->Behaviour and so, hence you can control your emotion by controlling your behavior and your thoughts.
@geoffreyhall20343 жыл бұрын
But how is that done ? How do you control your thoughts ? With more thoughts?
@khalidh30913 жыл бұрын
@@geoffreyhall2034There are many ways to do this, in fact this then essence of meditation. You can for example direct your attention and be aware of your breathing (this is a very simple behaviour, be persistent) you can also count your breathing, you can watch or witnesses your thoughts this means not engaging with them and just let them go when your are aware of them, you can also sing or say mantras and so on, you can literally use the hundreds of meditation techniques in existence. By doing this you will break the infernal thought trinity. Buddha used to say pain (meaning the first thought) is necessary (suffering the subsequent thoughts) is optional and this what Buddhism and Buddhist meditation is all about a cure for suffering or Dukkha.

I love what you said and I think if we don't hold a judgement there isn't a need to forgive. Your childhood life sounds just like mine. My Mom and Dad fighting all of the time, I had to protect her physically all the time. I didn't have hate for him, it just was what it was. I must have learned that in another life. My sister felt like you did. Thank God for awakenings and you .

Here is a beautiful talk with Tami and Karla McLaren on how to handle emotions. Karla says that there are no negative emotions and that each emotions comes to teach us something.

A beautiful comment about forgiveness. The need to forgive drops away with the awareness that everyone you interact with can only respond and relate from the level of awareness for them at that moment. It's not personal. Taking it personally only densifies an illusary idea of "me".

For me, I often still feel like my negative thought patterns do have a purpose and that it is that I should learn something from them (like from past mistakes). But probably this point has long been past and I should have let go of the thoughts long ago. But I still get caught in that trap of "if only I play back this clip once more in my mind I can create a better now or a better future with some new knowledge or insight I will gain from re-playing the negative thought". Of course this never really happens but it's still hard to feel ok with letting go of the thoughts.

Oh wow. I can relate so much to the subject of forgiving parents. I became concious last year around July and that was when I took the step of not pretending to have forgiven my father who had murdered my mother and ran away. I decided to face the negative emotion head on, I went through it rather than getting over it and I believe there is so much progress I don't feel that anger,hate and sadness the way I used to before.

I agree about ihis information needs to be taught somewhere anyway....school yes! Specifically, the difference of Ego identity v Eessence idenity.... it is essential! Or even the importance of monitoring our reactivity and when our reactions are out of proportion to the present moment....and dealing or allowing yourself to feel emotions, rather than avoiding them at all costs. Much love for this man. He saved my life. Prior to reading Tolle, I understood these concepts, but had such difficulty practicing them. His book, A New Earth, brought me to a whole other level of awareness. For me, throughout reading it, another "Ah ha" moment came to me. And learning about identification with the ego, and the thinking mind, the way he presented it made all the sense in the/my world. I am utterly grateful for this. So is my family and my friends...hahaha.

I loved this particular lecture. I have many fears around driving. As a result, I've very seldom ever driven. Im trying to use his process of ID the reocurrings thoughts (in my case, FEAR) and then asking myself what purpose they serve in keeping my feelings of anxiety alive. My dilemma seems to be that I think the thoughts serve to keep me safe... Now, I know thoughts don't keep me safe, but my mind keeps telling me they do.. I'm going to listen to this lecture over and over. Until I can make some kind of breakthru.

What a surprise, I started some technique/therapy to heal from pain. And then, the same day I listened to this message from Eckhart. That was even better than the recently received therapy. It is really, immediately helpfull for me. I now discern between the thought and the feeling. I do not let my thoughts fuel my feelings anymore. And I do not let my feelings being confirmed by old programmed thoughts anymore. No more suffering for what has happened long ago. Thank you very much!!! Like Madonna sings: "The spell has been broken". :)

The human perception of things is limited by time and place, but the universal perception of the big scheme of things is not limited by time or place. Everything that happens here, happens everywhere else at the same time. Every time something new happens here, then it has already happened there too. If you could see all these events from above, then you would realize that they are all related to each other. It's like you can know everything that has happened here and will happen there at the same time. This is the way it really works.

My father and Eckhart’s father had almost the same childhood, was like he was talking about my father when he was talking about his! Then my father was exactly the same, aggressive against my mother and us children! But i forgave him, he did what he could after all given his tough childhood!! Amazing video, left an impact on me!

Resonate with this talk, also had a father who was also explosive and scary as a child. And I realized that he only acted out his own pain and I was able to eventually let go after years of sufferings. 🙏 Thanks in part to Eckarts teachings.❤️
