Kidś brain is in theta frequence...which means imagination. When you say school, it would actually make sense if you had meant college. May be introduce in the 1st semester or even in high school and then maybe re-introduce in the final year...so we are aware of the concept early on....but if children start questioning religion and all, it'd never make it. No institution would want their pupils to become atheists why because it is one of the morals they take pride in sticking to which is talking/teaching/praying to God.

@@lucaskazama878 In a word, ego. It flaws our perception and limits our ability to experience the world in a multi-dimensional way. When we understand the ego as a byproduct of the brains attempt to survive, we see that who we really are is not the stories created by our minds.

@@cmickie3296 I don't really think the ego is a bad thing. Sure, it blinds us to the truth of the soul. Only a few people in the community really understand the basic vision of all this project of life on "earth" (Gaia, whatever). I see you want to help your soul to experience this life, being as much mindfulness as possible, Yet, this byproduct of the brain, is part of you too in your daily life. It's a story, a human story, but as fake as it is, is alive as well. It has its own desires, and now I really need to ask: Do you know who you really are, just by disabling your ego? I'm asking just by curiosity. I cannot and in any way want you to change anything you believe. I just want to see the whole picture of your words. Nothing more. You see you have a soul, eternal, experiencing human life, in this 3d universe, so that you can add experiences that every being can be able to reengage and study. So, you decided your personality on earth needs to shut down in order to your soul to enjoy this life, no matter the plan. Is that it?

Not for me, it is probably individual who suits whom at different stages, of development, in different life situation and health states. I need someone emotionally-physically healed and more grounded Yang-energetically balanced and spiritual-psychologically- practically empathic. Can't find right words to put it right now. He is probably better for the less damaged and handicapped ones, Lol. Hearing him in German was better though, and if I could get his mother tongue, it would maybe be even a bit better still. i get terribly distracted by accents and lack of speech flow and idiomatic, native speech. Would probably be better after getting all the aspects of help to heal that I need. I appreciate him much even so. But feel a bit troubled, insecure, slightly threatened and repelled. He could use all his money to get really good-quality full spectrum healing/treatment. It annoys and worries me when spiritual ppl are so full of their spirituality that they neglect and disregard their health, are oblivious to it. One said: Oh, my body has to get along as bets it can, or sth similar. Awfully irresponsible and sad. Exactly the developed ppl are so needed on the Earth too, if I may say so.

My coworker yelled at me this morning. A few hours later she approached me and apologized, "I am really sorry for yelling at you." I said it was okay, I had realized she has now become conscious of acting out her emotional reactions. I often hear or read about people commenting, "What does Eckhart mean by being unconscious? Like passed out?" What he means is that most people are unaware in the moment that they are acting out the reaction to their emotional conditioning, which in many cases, may not be the best action to take. We all experience moments where we realize this and apologize later on, if we realize it sooner we wouldn't need to apologize because we aren't always automatically reacting to our emotions. This is the identification emotions and thinking, we become that energy, act it out and then regret later.

I'm experiencing this. I meditate, my mind goes quiet but there is a consistent deep negative feelingness stored up in my pain body. Its guilt, regret, sadness, fear, doubt. This emotional pain doesn't dissipate. I can look at it in meditation and feel it almost as if it's like a coat im wearing. The very second I slip out of meditation the emotional state moves back in and attaches itself to the thinking. It's been weeks of this! My question is will this ever stop? Will I ever feel peace and contentment naturally? And the other question is could all of this "now" stuff really be me just avoiding or suppressing these negative emotions that should be attended to in a therapeutic psychological way?

Its kind of like a law of this universe. Light needs darkness to expand in new challenging ways and darkness needs light to experience love. One without the other is a blank void. therefore we shouldn't fight it nor shall we wallow in it. Except the darkness's existence and don't supress it. offer it light, care for it like a nurturing mother or teach it how to grow up and take responsibility like a loving father would. Offer a mother and a father's love to your shadow and by doing this you will in turn offer the universe a new opportunity to learn, explore and expand into the dark undiscovered realms. Tam Lerner , I'm originally from India where the so called Eastern philosophy or spirituality was born in the form of yoga, gita, vedhas, upanishads or whatever but I had no clue what all this (that) was about until Eckhart came along. I haven't found another spiritual teacher who put things so clearly so anybody that understands simple English can understand the mystery of existence. Two lines from his book had me bowled over. 1) The 1st line of The Power of Now - "I have little use for my past" in exactly so many words. Havent read a more powerful insightful line in my life. 2) The part he says when and how he realized that he was not one but two - the ego in the forefront and the consciousness behind it - "I can't live with myself anymore, who is the I and who is the observer" not in exactly so many words. To me he summed up the essence of the whole existence in these 2 lines. And of course all that he says about how to train yourself to be in the now. My head on his feet.

@oshoosho57135 жыл бұрын
mydailybread7 , Thank you. I wish you the same. But like Eckhart says (again!) understanding is one thing, knowing is another. I find it very very difficult to be in the now when confronted with things or people that can easily haunt you sometimes for days/weeks on end. It requires utmost discipline and self control and to a large extent will power to not react and give in to your thoughts/emotions in these situations. I read Eckhart back in the year 2000. It is almost 20 years now and while I am overall a simple and happy person, such circumstances/situations make me wonder otherwise, that maybe I am a very complex and sad person! Lol!!! I find being in the now more difficult as I get older especially when peer pressure kicks in and most particularly, when I realize that I can't retire anytime soon and start running and re-running all the financial blunders of the past! The feeling makes me feel so tired and stressful so I try not to go there! When I think I have found some balance in this journey, that's when I encounter some people who consciously remind me either of their financial wellbeing or my age! Voila, I am back in my mind again but I lately see a pattern there, maybe the Universe wants me to conquer this and that's why it keeps putting me in the same situations even if I try to avoid them! TIME TO BE TRULY IN THE NOW. But thankfully, I have one gift, I can sing. And that's what keeps me going. While it doesn't earn me money, it gives me hope and happiness. Thank you for listening. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!

The majority of people live way behind the present moment. I used to be that way, always lagging, ruminating thoughts and wishing I had done this or that, would have said something else. The closer you approach the event horizon of Now, the crazier and crazier life gets. When I get incredibly present, often time the world around me looks like miniature toy set and I’ve been plopped down in it. Sometimes it looks like everything is breathing, exactly like on lsd. Sometimes I feel heavier than a star, the other night standing next to a dude outside I felt like I was sinking into the ground so heavily that I was becoming a black hole. Sometimes I feel so light I could float away. The fact is that the present is where the gold is at the end of the rainbow. After truly living in the present and sustaining it, anyone else lagging behind seems totally ridiculous, but you can’t get through to them so they end up being apart of the show, which is quite interesting too because you end up seeing a sort of blueprint of their soul and thought process in real time. The present is where it’s at. Meeting other people that are very present is few and far between, but when I do, they give off the vibe very hardcore of being those self dribbling balls of light McKenna talks about, but they look like humans. If all this sounds crazy, it is. But so is life and dreams so deal with it mofugguh

Because of the help of Eckart’s teaching as well as a few others and a mix of life circumstances I’ve recently began developing this ability to see conflicts with people not as a threat and see those people not as an enemy but as opportunities for expansion with those people being spiritual bodhisatvas. I feel a strong sensation when I experience these moments as such. But it isn’t necessarily involuntary. I choose with effort to see the moment as an opportunity to learn and usually fear and anger dissolves into love and excitement. But it’s kind of like a light flickering on and off. It doesn’t stay easily. I often have to will it. Every second redirecting my attention to presence rather than my identity. The only time this presence comes and stays with ease is when I listen to beautiful music or when I am alone in nature. But it’s almost identical in sensation.

Presence to me feels impersonal yet balanced. It has energy to it (not a void). Its constant and never fluctuates. I can have a human emotion over-lap with presence. That human emotion typically comes when I start off meditation with combination of Cello & Piano music that for whatever reason really has strong impact with me.

Angel of Books I got the power of now on CD, the recent one that was published, with narration by the master himself. It is truly wonderful. I drive an entire hour a day, to and from work. And I put this tape in, and listen to the chapters over and over. I have heard parts of it 20 times I think. Beautiful, you should try it.

Is it just me or is Eckhard not being the Yoda he usually is. He is moving and talking more quickly. I still love him :)
An awareness of the mind stream/emotion or mental position can happen only if one has already developed awareness in the first place. I learned this late in life I believe because of life circumstances and conditions expressing my emotions naively taking positions showing my genuineness. Only spirituality and trying to practice presence (Christlike) with awareness has made a change. Another point is to think over your thinking (including mood, habits, tendencies) in awareness and having a filter before expressing is good to have. However, human condition is imperfect and making a mistake is often possible with regrets and some pains. I accept that learning often comes with some pain (to ourselves and others) and there is no escape from it, since growth is part of life. I agree very much that the key is to hold space for the mind stream and keeping it under safe control and separating one's emotions/feelings do require learning so that they don't harm our presence and acceptance of the moment. Being in charge of the balance needs knowledge and awareness that may often need close attention and effort. Such was my own experience.

what the questioner wanted to ask - does the state of awareness have any emotion ? that is so very important to us - rather than thoughts/emotions are there and there is a presence behind.

10:00 “your sense of self isn’t in the opinion, your sense of self is in the awareness!” this is what I probably struggle with the most...I identify with the opinions (and gain ‘fulfilment” in being right) sometimes before I’m even aware of it. any tips on how to deal with this from people that can relate ?
@suzyswain4025 жыл бұрын
If you loose yourself in the moment you can only look at it introspectively afterwards when presence is back to understand what triggered you. If you try to be present as much as possible it should happen less and you should spot it when it happens more quickly. People definitely try and test you though. I noticed when I became more conscious how people try and try to push your old triggers and some no longer worked and that surprised them so they try different angles until I lost presence. You must keep in mind its their own pain body trying to interact with yours for relief, its not personal when they do it.

My answer to the question, drawing on my own experience is that a deep state of presence has a grace and beauty that is fuller, or more complete than any emotion or thought, so you can be aware of them without becoming part of them. Presence is spaciousness, but that space isn't empty. Something will always arise to fill that space, so just be aware of what that is.

Thank you so much, this talk provided yet another level understanding for me at least about thought form creation, how identity is conditioned and created by this forming of My identity/Me. The Entrenchment. Its funny when I think about it really because this is what stops our further learning and demonstrates how communication can quickly degrade, especially when another opinion is perceived as threat to Me/My identity. Awareness can provide the space to recognize when our senses begin to experience ourselves becoming drawn into these contradiction as an unconscious threat, (defeat or protect) to our very existence whether apparent to us or not. Much to meditate on today, lots of practice ahead of me. Thank you again.

Presence has become an empty trope to describe a mechanical steering of attention back to "awareness" presence truly experienced is Divinity and all the pyscho physical implications of that. Tolle only goes so far - presence is to be the universe - no small matter. It transcends emotions and resolves as amrita Nadi - the Prana's return to the heart and bliss pervades all time and space - just for starters. It always sounds disembodied sterile but neat and tidy when I hear him speak. Good for his audience maybe but it's a one fingered hand

@14.30 state of no thought / no emotion... with clarity and aliveness - I call it waku waku (aliveness - bubbling water coming out of ground). That is eternal peace, usually come with the sense of transparency.. or spaciousness. For me, such appear to be the root of who I am. It may last for a while or it may dissipate. (somewhat controllable) Then delusion may pop up. So, it is like a process of being in and out. There is Saichi a Mykonin from Sin Buddhism who said: "I am a happy man, indeed! I visit the Pure Land as often as I like: I am there and I am back.. " etc. I can relate to such expression. Yet, delusion may pop up and.. it may hang around for a while... So, I am a human for sure - with occasional sense of nirvana - so I sense)

When “I” identifies with thoughts or mental positions, you identify with ego positions unconsciously. That's an illusion. You defend and justify mental positions with negative energy. This is dysfunction. You have to be alert and present. Thanks Eckhart 😜🍹🏄♂️😂🎪🎶🚴♀️🏝🗼🥅🍰🍒🍰💡

@LuanaKoch5 жыл бұрын
he could answer: if someone ' has ' OCD, which is labeling, and therefore not THAT person, he/she needs to practice AWARENESS, so the space (consciousness) can rise, when there is space, the pattern will be gone. Letting go, Letting go should be a mantra for a person 'with' OCD...
