ECOBOOST MUSTANG INTERCOOLER INSTALL FROM CV FABRICATION AND CHARGE PIPE INSTALL HOW TO & REVIEW

How to install Ecoboost mustang intercooler from CV Fabrication and Charge pipe install.
We are working on a 2017 Mustang ECOBoost 2.3L Convertible.
We did this install Without having to pull the front bumper, By moving the radiator assembly to gain access to a little more room to remove and install the Intercooler.
2015 + Mustang ECOBoost Big Intercooler & Charge Pipe Upgrade. How to Install an Intercooler & Charge Pipe Set From CV Fabrication. This Intercooler was a Defect from CV Fab so Some additional modification were needed for this Install.

Ya definitely don't have to remove it. It will be tight getting the factory one out. Just go slow with it and it takes some finesse to wiggle it out. Some of those plastic shields around the side of the condenser and radiator need to be pulled up so you can get past them. Good luck with it and happy moding!

Is there an way to get the old IC out with out disconnecting the radiator?

I don't really think so without removing more of the frontend. We only undid the top mounts just to move the radiator back just a bit. Didn't have to remove hoses or loose any coolant or anything like that. Just takes a few mins to remove the top brackets and slightly lift the radiator assembly out of the pockets it sits in to move back a few inches. Pretty simple. Good luck with yours and just be slow and easy so not to break anything.

What were the temps? How was heat soak?

To be honest I didn't get to work with the car very long so I don't have any real data on it. By hand feeling the factory intercooler after a spirited drive it felt to be the same temperature across the intercooler core. On the aftermarket one there was a noticeable temperature difference between the inlet and outlet sides. Like I said not any real numbers data but that's what know from it. What did you do about the rubber dangling in front of the intercooler? Does it block air flow or does the airflow push it back out of the way?

how much do u think this intercooler will help my setup im currently runnin a 93 tune with JLT intake a y pipe connected to catbacks preciate the vid brotha

this is definitely where you need to focus your modification now. The factory intercooler will heat soak quickly especially with running higher boost. A larger intercooler will keep it running a safer charge air temp. Cooler air has more volume and will lead to lower combustion temperature less likely to get pre detonation so the ecu wont have to pull timing and boost back to stay safe. So essentially it will keep it all safer and more powerful and that is what we all want! Good luck with yours bro

If you are not changing the charge pipes, do you still have to raise the radiator?

Yes that helps you get the whole setup moved to get more room to maneuver the Intercooler out.

Not really…you can remove the grill and have complete access. I installed a street style intercooler so it’s slightly smaller than a racing intercooler. Which may be the difference.

so we noticed that the longer we drove it, we didn't get that slight draw down from the heat soak, especially here in Phoenix. so I would say yes on the performance gains, but it's one of those things that you'll notice if looking for it, if that makes sense...
