Thanks for watching! Hopefully this tutorial helps you with the installation of your aftermarket street shield / skid plate! This procedure will be very similar with any Audi or Volkswagen vehicle!
This modification will provide significantly more protection than the plastic skid plate. This will be especially important if you're VW or Audi has a plastic oil pan. Thanks for watching!

It would be really great if ECS would have incorporated some holding "tabs" on one end so that you could lift the plate into position, insert the end with the holding tabs on one end and then slide your hands to the other end and start a bolt. As you clearly demonstrated, mounting these is a real PITA! ECS usually does a very through job with their proprietary items, but they must have had the car on its roof when they thought the skid plates up! Thank you for the (real) vid.

Cool vid. Thanks for showing the detail of the install. Thinking of installing this on a Passat but was worried the weight of the aluminum plate would cause the front plastic trim that it slips into to sag down or loosen. Was concerned relying on a plastic trim piece to hold the weight at the front. Have you had any issues with the aluminum plate? Any major impacts, road animals, or street debris that has hit the plate? Thanks!

the problem I see with this skid plate is the front is not mounted to anything very solid

Why would you want aluminum instead of plastic? Is it just so it can't get mangled as easily if you bottom out or hit something? Plastic would still deflect things from hitting the oil pan, would it not? Plastic is slightly more elastic so it seems like a better material for this application to me.

More protection for your oil pan. Especially for lowered cars.
