What a truly lovely and kind man he was! I had a crush on him when he played Mingo in Daniel Boone. I was only about 5 years old but I knew cute when I saw it! 😄😄😄

Ed Ames did some incredible work as Mingo on the Daniel Boone series. Some of the storylines were intense and gritty. He should have won an Emmy for his role.

Ed and his brothers are some of my earliest memories of "singing commercials." They were great, and they all had great voices. He was a wonderful actor as well. Thanks for the memories, Ed!

I met Ed on a March of Dimes telethon in Montgomery, AL at the height of his television career. A VERY nice man who encouraged our young trio. 40+ years later I had an opportunity to talk to Ed on the phone in an attempt to set up a radio interview for a Chattanooga station, and I mentioned the telethon. He quipped back..."I was just talking about that the other day." Very funny moment

Mainly, I remember Ed Ames for his famous and hilarious tomahawk toss on Johnny Carson's show. I still occasionally pull up that video for a laugh, and it never fails to entertain. When Ed passes to his reward, that legendary _Tonight Show_ appearance will almost certainly be in the first paragraph of his obituary.

Ed played the character of Mingo honorably. I saw him as handsome, witty, highly intelligent, incredibly brave and strong, with a deep respect of his mixed heritage. He understood and upheld the beliefs of both Indian and White. I'll always love Mingo! I miss you Ed Ames🪶

I learned a lot of old songs from The Ames Brothers. So, I would love to know more about Ed and his brothers. I learned these songs years later. By the time I knew who they were, they went on to different careers. I asked questions from my Mom about them, so would love to see a biography about them.
@JohnMinehan-lx9ts Жыл бұрын
His show started in the Fall of '64, Star Trek (also on NBC) started in the Fall of '66). I have to suspect that the development of Mingo developed how they developed Spock, another bright man of mixed heritage.

@jacqulenestanifer68895 ай бұрын
Probably around 2009, I'd guess. When Ed talks about Fess Parker, he does so in a present day sense. Fess Parker died in 2010, so judging from Ed's appearance, here, I would guess he was, probably, in his early 80's at the time this interview was taped which would place the taping of this interview around 2008 or 2009 or possibly even 2010 before Fess Parker's death occurred.😃
