3 decades later and Married with Children can be remembered as one of the most wholesome things to come out of Fox. Sure it arguably led to the degradation of American society but far less than most Fox programming. Also, I love Ed's role in Wayne's world.
@ivicamajmunskikreten97142 жыл бұрын
what made it lead to a degradation of society?? did Al say too many fat jokes that made people get even more obese? did all of Al's speeches about american values lead to labeling of everyone into groups? Al spoke to and for the working class. If you all listened to him instead of labeling it as a "guilty pleasure" you might still be a respectable nation.
@yellowblanka60582 жыл бұрын
A decent chunk of the MWC fanbase didn't seem to recognize the fact that the show/its characters were satire and see Al Bundy as some kind of "alpha male" hero and the show being representative of the "good old days", when if anything it was poking fun at people that were like the characters in the show. MWC is a funny show, but none of the characters are what I would call role models. I think saying it lead to the "degradation of America" is pretty ludicrous though, more that it appealed to people from dysfunctional families/broken homes and aforementioned people who didn't catch the fact that the show was comic satire, and wasn't meant to glorify the Bundys or their way of life (nor was it meant to glorify the middle-class yuppies across the street in the form of the Rhodes)

The irony is that Fox really DID feel that way about MWC. Michael Moye is one of the creators and has interviews over at the Emmytvlegends thats worth watching (so does Ed). Fox constantly downplayed MWC because Tracey Ulman was more the kind of show they wanted to be noted for. But each week MWC got more and more popular than anything else at Fox, but even after that lady made big news with her complaints Fox was literally trying to change absolutely everything about the show, and made the producers life such hell they left the first chance they got.

Wow! Ed O'Neill looks so clean cut and dapper apart from his Al Bundy character on MWC. And fellow FOX star at the time Maury Povich appearing together with O'Neil? Who da thunk it?

i am so glad he has done well. Married with Children brought so much joy to millions. A hard working guy. Loved hearing him talk about his early days in Hollywood and New York when he was broke, and struggling to just eat.

MWC was great, went out on top, still great today. Snl used to be great too. Too bad the same can’t be said about the current era of snl.
