I’ve always said the same thing. I know most people say their decade was the best that they grew up in, but I def agree that the 90’s was literally the last decade that kids got to grow up without social media, narcissistic morons taking videos/pics of themselves, politically correct bull shit being shoved in your face. I saw an interview with Ed O'Neill in which he says the other actors reading for the part of Al Bundy played him angry and constantly on edge, like Jackie Gleason in The Honeymooners. Ed decided to portray him like one of his uncles, who acted completely beaten down by life and dead inside, and it worked.

So no, the director or producer (producer was Marcy btw!) didn’t want to delete all those moments…

Married With Children was and still is the best sitcom that ever aired on network television. This show came on at 9:00PM every week which was my bed time on school nights. I had to beg to be able to stay up to watch it. That whole cast made me laugh so hard I'd be crying... It should be in the Sitcom Hall Of Fame...

I had the utmost pleasure to meet Ed O’Neill once when I was working as an intern in NC USA he used to come over from California to get away from crowds for a vacation. We never approached him as he was on vacation but he always made a point of greeting all the staff warmly and would leave very generous tips not just housekeeping but for all staff.

How we need shows like this (that, sadly, could not be made today). Ed's facial expressions when delivering most of his zingers was 2/3 of the fun! Brilliant writing and brilliant delivery by all members of the cast.

There aren't any comedies on TV anymore. I cannot think of one new comedy hit. Married With Children is still very much hysterical.
