It's big Taurus season. Last week we celebrated Baisley’s b-day and this Friday we’ll celebrate Rory turning the year Jesus died/Larry Bird year. Rory doesn’t know it yet, but we have a surprise party planned for him (it’s okay, he doesn’t read the descriptions). Anyway, Mal was bumping knees court-side with Jack Harlow at the Knicks game. Sadly, only Jack was fortunate enough to have Kyle Lowry jump on his lap. I like that the writer's guild is going on strike for the very reasons y'all are discussing here; continual compensation, recognition, ownership, etc.. For example, with hollywood movies, the writers get their agreed upon percentage when the project is completed, but there aren't any residuals for them after the fact. Just say hypothetically a writer got paid $50,000 upon project completion, but the movie went on to make $1.2 BILLION afterwards. Is that fair?!?!?! I'm so glad more and more people are talking about this and discussing wages more openly, I really feel like this is going to benefit society in the long run. We don't need any more overpaid multi-billionaire CEO's, we just need people to be paid fairly for their work/labour/ideas.

Sheeran vs. Gaye. It's a pick and choose game sometimes. It also comes down to your legal team. For example, "Blurred Lines" used similar instruments and it was a party record but I don't feel that it's based on a sample from "Give It Up". They don't sound the same. However, Gaye's Estate won the lawsuit. If this Sheeran song is as close to "Let's Get It On" as you state then there's something twisted in the legal system for Sheeran to win (when compared to the Robin Thicke "Blurred Lines" case). Or it's twisted for Thicke/Pharrell to lose depending on how you look at it.

I heard Let's Get It On the 7th time I listen to it! For the longest time though, I knew that it felt familiar and I couldn't place it. I'm really disappointed in how it is handling this, because I loved the song and thought that he had permission to sample Let's Get It On. I'm really disappointed that he's doubling down and acting like there's no similarities, when there is 95% similarity! I don't think that is a bad guy, but he still have to make amends, be honest about his inspiration, and record labels should just give some of the money.
