I bought the 3.6" with the bearings and plain edge for $9.99. It is actually pretty nice for that price. I immediately disassembled it, cut a small notch in the spine of the blade to act as a wave opener, and buffed the spine, side face, and swedge of the blade to a mirror polish. I took off the clip and bent it out to relieve the excessive tightness of it. I added some oil to the bearings and pivot parts and reassembled it. Rock solid and smooth. There was some lockbar sticking, but after the oil and reassembly, it stopped. The fit and finish is nothing impressive. For example, the scales weren't quite flush with the liners on mine, but nothing that affected functionality. It's not pretty, and it's not a Benchmade, but for only $10, it's a hell of a knife. Better than any gas station knife I've seen. If you can't resist a decent cheap knife, get one of these. The model number is GK21 by the way. The Gerber paraframe copy is total garbage, and the other one looks okay, but who wants serrations?

My attitude towards Harbor Freight's knives is changing due to these kinds of reviews. I always figured that the steel they used was about as strong as aluminum. I guess I'll pick up a couple and try them out. Great job!

If I had to guess, I'd say the last knife came with a little cover on the clip because the clip had a coating and the company didn't want the coating/paint getting chipped off.

Word is that the low end Chinese knives use super glue on their screws to keep them from falling apart. A cheap solution for poor quality control. All good unless you want to maintenance them.

Maybe you can either swap the scales or do a lil sanding work since the one has the plain edge and bearing system. Anyhoo, nice of you to do the video and use review for the ones wanting to know. And you're right about budget vs price spent or vice versa. Some don't care and some do care and prioritize with or without the budget. Even tho I buy quality I still would buy one of those to use places or do things that I wouldn't care about damaging it or keep it as another option somewhere to use. You always need a sharp knife places as you and everyone here knows. Lol . Appreciate the video Jeff. 👍🇺🇸🐍💪

pretty sure all the parts start as mirror images on those 2 models. the swedge, relief cuts, everything is identicle. One get finished with a combo edge and more aggressive texturing, smooth Teflon washers paired with the combo, Teflon based bearings paired with the plain edge.
