Yeah, the cr 2.5 is supposed to be a bird and trout knife. I'm with you that it's way too thick to actually be a bird and trout knife. I wish esee would make their smaller knives in 52100 or cruwear with a decent heat treat. I love my izulas for beater work knives, but they just don't have good edge retention

Hey Erica, I just got a Tops El Pinero from DLT and girl I think you should try this thing out I have had several Tops knives in the past but this is my favorite by far you will just have to handle it to know what I'm talking about it's a tactical pairing knife 1095 is sweet when its done right and this one is done right Imo give it a try I think you will enjoy this one! Esee 1095 from what I’ve seen is actually 55 to 57 hrc so it’s a slight step up from the average butter knife

I LOVE this new months-long multifaceted fixed blade experiment of yours! Such a cool idea! In addition to the Esse knives you mentioned in the "high toughness but actually soft-as-your-Mom's sweet ass" steel category, I'd like to propose the addition of the Tops M1 Midget! I think it would really compliment that lil Esee CR 2.5 quite nicely. You know, assuming it doesn't trigger your Microphobia or your fear of Dwarves. Hey Erica would it be possible to compare a large Case folder in TruSharp Stainless to a 111mm Victorinox folder, with the geometry, steel, HRC I think they should be pretty comparable. Many people don't like 1.4110 but I've carried one for decades at this point, and along with pocketstrop it's enough for me to get through a hard days knife use, i just strop it regularly and only when there's almost no edge left do I reset it with stones. Vic steel and heat treat is also tailored for hones be they ceramic or diamond...anyway I think the 111mm and 130mm Vic are underrated. Cheers.
