Adidas Ultraboost 20 Initial Runners Review | eddbud

I give you my mixed feelings on the Adidas UltraBoost 20 running shoes. I went true to size in these and love the paces i achieved but there was a serious problem!

I have just completed Brighton Marathon Weekend BM10k with my ultraboost 20s. No blisters or pain in that area, I found they're quite comfortable shoes really for an affordable price, although legs are a tad achy. Great reviews btw bud keep it up 👍🏻

Interesting thoughts mate! As a newbie to Adidas I loved the 19 I got, very weighty shoe but I just don’t notice it and like you, it made me want to run fast! For you though it’s interesting to hear your thoughts from someone who’s run in previous versions....

I have Boston 7 and since recent solar boost 19. Latter sits just under de UB and I have been pleasantly surprised running wise. Do you have experience with solar, so you could compare both? Thanks. Enjoy 2020!

I had to send mines back after 2 run tries.... my conclusion is that, for me, these are not running shoes, or are not working for me as running shoes...they were really uncomfortable on the feet after 2-3 kms....a real pity.

I’m torn about them. They felt great apart from the heel issue. Even with discomfort I easily hit 7:00/mi. Going to give them a bit of a chance first. Thanks for watching. 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

I want to give the UB a second try since after I disliked the UB 3.0 a few years ago and now I consider , for myself ,the Adizero line the best running shoes for my style.

I’ve done 3 runs in UB20 and they feel great so far. Suspect it’s a break-in issue; a few more runs and I believe the problem will go away!

I'm surprised you were so comfortable going fast in them even though they are so heavy. What a good looking shoe. I want one to wear casually. I would not want to run in it. The weight and blister problem you had is a deal breaker.

I absolutely love my new 20’s. They do feel heavy in my hand but not on my feet. Lucky I’m not experiencing any heal rubbing and I did put the hammer down on day 1 😁. Great shoe to get all those long training miles in but I won’t be racing in them mainly due to the weight.

2nd run has proved much better. 8:00/min pace but no rubbing. Very odd. Though I have made some slight modifications! Will detail soon on the channel. Thanks for watching. 😊👍🏼🏃🏻‍♂️

Over 100 miles on a second UB19, and so far no problem with the heal counter. A heavy shoe indeed, but I love it for the easy miles. I'm sorry for your 1st experience with the revamped UB.

Yikes, 13 oz! My ultraboost 19's are 11 oz in size 8.5 and I thought that was a lot. It does feel lighter on foot. I haven't had the blister problems, but I get knee pain after about half a mile if I try pushing the pace. The shoes work fine for slow runs for me. They're my favorite for walking around in.

Thanks Eddbub, I have earlier edition of the UB. I have never had any rubbing issues. I didn't realise how heavy there were until you pointed them out. I run long-mid range about 33miles per week. In your opinion whats your best long distance shoe?

If I was to go out for some long distance runs at lower paces right now I would go with the new balance 1080v10. Solid and comfortable shoe. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching 😊👍🏼🏃🏻‍♂️

Good review once again. I am not Adidas shoe user but from your review this seems like a very heavy shoe compared to the other companies. Dang, those blisters look like they hurt. I actually got a huge blister on the ball of my foot from the Vaporfly 4% on my first long run...and it never happened again so maybe just one of those things with this shoe for you as well.

I'm 97kg and did a 20km in the Glideride today....not bad....good for lsds and perhaps marathons...UB not a running shoe people....85% purchase as lifestyle

Hey, I do know that the gliderides are extremely durable (but that rings true for most Asics models) and many people over on Seth Demoor's channel are giving some very positive feedback on them too...I'm also now considering adding them to my shoe rotation for 2020.

Interesting... I’ve been running UB19 and whilst it is a heavy shoe fantastic for recovery and slow long runs. The UB19’s have the same heel design and I’ve never had any blistering. I suspect you may have the wrong size shoe. You mention you have gone with true to size whereas your other shoes are a size up. I run in a half-size up.

The rear of the shoe 19 and 20 are somewhat different. The 20 has a neoprene material around the heel and fate. Though I don’t think it’s to do with the heel counter construction now. Man, same thing happens to me. The side of mt heel area is killing me whenever i run with UB19. Even after the run, the side part of my heel si still sore. I think it is because the heel counter. What did you do with it? Thank you

Hello fellow Edward! I got my scissors out and chopped some of the outer section of the insole away which seemed to improve things. Quite a heavy shoe for me, maybe I will get it out again for some more miles soon. Stay safe and thanks for watching 👍🏼😊🏃🏻‍♂️

The Adidas Ultraboost is indeed one of the most expensive high cushioning running shoes on market . But for some odd reason, here in Brazil , it cost the same as a NB 1080v10 or a Asics Glideride. So I would rather get the Adidas UB instead the competition.

Oh bummer Ed, I really wanted to like this rendition. I never experienced any chafing or blistering on the Ultraboost '19 after 400 miles. I wasn't really fond of them really other than I liked the look of the shoe. Apparently, not all boost is created equally. If BASF retooled the composition of boost to make it like Saucony's PWRRUN+, I imagine it'd revitalize the brand.

Had the Ultraboost v3(I think) when I first started running(by running like a mile) as I had the first Adidas Energy Boost.....but that was super super tight. But, I didnt know what I was doing at the time, so I didn't even know if they were good shoes or not....heh ho.....30 odd shoes later, I agree, Boost is looking like old technology compared to the foams coming out now(even the new EVAs like Fuelcell feel better than boost). Boost "HD" isn't enough either.

Wow! Kind of think the best reviews are the "disasters" - saves me money! adidas have notoriously been blister fests for me. I remember years ago taking a out new pair of racers for a road race and had similar blisters after just a 5 miler. The weight seems awful too - 365g is the weight of our mutual "favourite" the ZF3 but in a 13 for me not 11. These must come in close to 400g for me then. I have had two pairs of the Ultra Boost - the original and one I picked up in an outlet shop. I quite like them for easyish runs on a treadmill but outdoors always felt like I was sinking. Mind you Andy - the FOD Runner seemed very pleased with the 2019 version of these. I was tempted to pick up a pair. Also I noted Seth deMoor had similar type of blistering with the Turbo 2 but I am into my 3rd pair with no issues at all. So is it just possible you had a prior irritation there which unluckily came out here?
