Ive played guitar since 1964 and finally bought my first Gretsch - a 6120 very similar and of course that color. No othef guitars have this sound. Mine is a 2016 made in Japan wkthout the G branding . thsnks for posting tnis!

Eddie's mum kept it in a glass case for decades. She died in 1994 and the guitar is in the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame museum now.

awh I didn't know she passed was beautiful humble lady,she is with Eddie in heaven ,Eddie made so many people happy ,funny I played ,something else by sharon today really enjoyed,I'd no girl to jive with,memories are fantastic, my oldest sister and our niebour ,where bout 15 ,and we lived Belfast northren Ireland, Easter 1960 when they heard of Eddie's death they run to our Catholic church lit candles,the stories of those days are fantastic,

I was kid my older sister bought, in very early 60s it was like gold to find then ,well it was played at the highest volume on the red n cream dansette major lol along with all those tunes,best days gor kids then

Although it is specified as being on loan from the family. I imagine that they consider that's not only the safest place for it to be, but thousands of Eddie's fans will be able to see it.@@Tami9

That's really something to have the actual guitar. a Gretsch 6120, one of my favourite hollow bodied guitars, from 1955.

I just found this post,how did I miss it,I've watched every documentary on Eddie ,and the Areena documentary from the 80s was fantastic Eddie's mum wouldn't let the crew into his bedroom, Such a sad story for such a Talented guy,,I looked up his adreess on Internet years ago found the pics of the area,but latley looked up and it's gone been redeveloped,,it's sad but life has to move on ,I think Eddie ,Buddy ect will always be remembered, (come on everybody)

I think there will come a time when Eddies Gretsch guitar will end up in a music museum, in the end all great musicians instruments will eventually end up in one, for the public to appreciate a very special time.

I had ep I bought in London, had it stolen, and track on it was ,dont wake up the kids its so hard to fine ,also had my Flying jacket stolen I had an old original Eddie badge on the colour,,man thief's 😢

"Go Johnny Go" was the movie. Chuck Berry was intended to be the main attraction, but after Valens' death he became the biggest draw since so little footage of him performing was ever taken, and even less exists now.

That wasn't Eddie's guitar. That was just another Gretsch 6120. If you look closely, you can see that the pickguard isn't clear, and it still has the stock neck pickup. 2 different guitars of the same make.

It's Eddie Cochran's original guitar strap, and you are letting someone else put that on and put tension on it , oh no !

Looks like it was preserved pretty well at the time, i mean it was with the family and pretty much stayed in a case. You know that straps made out of leather right? Puttijg tension on it doesnt mean its gonna snap like a rubber band
