@turk turklington Take into account Eddie's sheer mass is equal to twice Klokov's. But you're right anyway; you may take Klokov in his best shape and yet he would struggle to match his log press to his best barbell press; which, by tbe way, was 225 Kg.

@@hironizer1332 Klokov can push press 225kg Pressing an axle is slightly harder than a barbell because there's no flex. So i would say prime klokov could push press around +200kg. Also its two different sports, ask eddie to snatch 200kg and he will fail miserably. They're both immensely strong in their own sports.

I can’t help but have mixed feelings about this. First of all without a double super impressive. Congratulations for getting that overhead. Mega impressive no doubt. However, comparing this to Eddie’s 216kg when it was 0 leg drive and he just powers it up , pure strength. Why are these guy allowed to split jerk the weight up now? It’s the same record yet it’s two different ways to do the lift? Personal I don’t think split jerking should be allowed. I think the weight should have to be pressed like Eddie did it. Pure strength.

So Serge Redding did a 502lb strict press back in years before. Granted, it wasn’t axle, it was standard. Does that change the record?
@TheLegMan1
@TheLegMan1 4 жыл бұрын
eddie technically didn't strict press, so 502 lbs is the wr. But in strongman 474 lbs is recognized as the record for some odd reason. For gym lift iron biby did 530 lbs almost like a strict, and 573 lbs with almost no leg drive both of the rack. My best raw deadlift is 571 lbs 😭 and these guys are ohp it.
@makaan699
@makaan699 3 жыл бұрын
Reding's 228kg wasn't strict. I know he didn't bend his knees but the Olympic press in the last years was anything but strict - they used hip+back drive to get momentum off their chest and then dropped under the bar like in the clean and jerk, but just with the upper body, bending backwards. It is an epic lift but he couldn't do a seated shoulder press of 228.

Zydrunas Savickas casually set world records at WSM without even trying to do so and worn from other events during competition. it is easier to break records when you only focus on 1 event and prepare for only prepare and train for 1 max rep. In WSM you have to train well rounded, all kind of static events, and also endurance and explosive strength, therefore it is less likely that you will achieve your prime achievement at 1 event then. Furthermore, in WSM you will stop when you are in No1 position and not go higher in weight, even if you could, because you won't get more points for that and you would be weaker in following events + risking injury. Just saying, it is a different mentality, intending to break records or winning WSM, different goal in mind, therefore different training. Taking nothing away from Eddie, his 500kg deadlift is ages ahead of anyone else, ages ahead of Savickas' best as well. But I am more than certain Savickas could break that axle press record at his best, his shoulder Strength is unparalleled. After 2015 they had to decrease the weight of the Austrian Oak log because nobody except from Savickas could even lift it once. And he did it for reps.
