Eddie Hearn and his matchroom stable worked perfectly with sky sports, he had the uk market sown up, but then decided to take on the world, since then things have been going wrong for Hearn, from Anthony Joshua losing to Andy Ruiz and Usyk, Lawrence Okolie leaving, Fury taking over, and the Conor Benn situationlets have a look at the story of dazn and what has happened with Eddie since they arrived on the boxing scene.

As an American boxing fan, DAZN was the best thing to happen to boxing. I absolutely hated the PPV model and the fact that DAZN uploaded highlights and full fights on the SAME NIGHT was revolutionary. In comparison, other promotions like Top Rank, HBO, and PBC uploaded skimpy highlights 7-9 months after the fight happened, so DAZN was very appealing. Of course, eventually they had to go back to the PPV model, started DAZN PPV, and lost fighters. Now other promotions have adopted DAZN’s media strategies like uploading highlights much earlier than before, (albeit still skimpy highlights).

Eddie overestimated boxing’s popularity. Boxing is not even amongst the top 10 most popular sports in the U.S that’s a reason they rely heavily on payperviews to make a profit unlike other sports like Basketball, baseball ⚾️ and the NFL where they make bank on tv rights, sponsors, overpriced tickets, jerseys, and large brands contracts. Also paying high salaries lo average champions that will never make them money only Canelo and jake Paul make them money

As casual fan gradually getting deep into the boxing world, I must say DAZN had respectable part on that. I mainly watch through YT, DAZN being the quickest and most generous promoter who shares fight highlights, it gave fans at least a quick glance at fights that we wouldn't be able to see unless pay. Boxing was also been in decline due to the rise of the UFC but DAZN is at least doing something to captivate new audience with the YT boxing. Those 2 alone are a great service to the boxing world. Gotta give props to Eddie for that.

I bought DAZN in early 2019 and saw some amazing fights. Joshua/Ruiz 1 and 2, Inoue/Donaire 1, all of Canelo's 2019 bouts. And some MMA bouts. It seemed really cool but you could tell it wouldn't last.

Honestly, there is something needs to be said. Before DAZN, you get some boxing news or interesting event every three or four months, I just like that DAZN knows how to keep the momentum. You can complain the quality of the shows, but overall all around it offers waaaaay more value than paying PPV. Everyday you get the Boxing Show, you get news, interviews, insights... It is not only about the fights but the culture around the sport. You have to be a hater to trash into this platform, it is just good for the sport, why it should be neglected by so many, I just dont get it. Before dazn I could still watch fights from all over the world and get news everyday you must not have been paying attention which means you're not a fan and as far as insight goes these guys on dazn know very little about the sport to have an insight it's like going to see a vet about the heart trouble you've been having instead of going to a heart specialist what you've been sold is false that's why real fan's don't subscribe 😉 and the youtube thing is a good business model but bad for boxing in the long term the people who watch it don't and won't watch the guy/girl with no followers but has come from the amateurs and probably won a medal in the Olympics and has been working their way through rankings and is a far better boxer than the hype job you've been told is good or worse the guy/girl that's been training since a young age and never won in the Olympics but has put in the work and went through the rankings without the stepladder provided by the Olympics this isn't good for boxing it dilutes the talent and we'll end up with shit fighters with big followers trying to be champions and the next generation buying it thinking this is boxing that'll be a sad day

The thing is with football i have to pay 3 different services (sky, blue sport, dazn) if i want to get all the top leagues and cup games and this is just stupid and i hate to be spending so much money on this. DAZN was one of the very few ways for me to watch the UFC, at least the main card (im from Germany). So i literally paid for their whole libary, while only watching one sporting event, which, if im lucky, had a program once a week. But whatever i thought, i take it. Then, after about half a year, i got an e.mail saying their price would be lifted by 30%, but only if you are a new customer, it specifically said it wouldnt affect customers who were already there. They did however change their mind and lifted the prices for everyone, but without sending another mail telling it. That was the End of my journey with DAZN.

I've always been a fan of DAZN. The price is fine for getting more boxing, is it all top notch fights, no, but for a true boxing fan it's much better to get more quality fights. Real boxing fans who wanted to watch fights had their ways to find them without problem , i know i saw every single fight i wanted even before i ever heard for DAZN. I was subscriber at DAZN for like 2-3 months , went there for Babic vs Balski and had high hopes for platform but that was basically the only event i watched there. Saw Usyk vs Joshua somewhere online , completely forgot about DAZN , few times i peeked there were only youtuber fights and then decide to just unsubscribe. Price is really cheap , basically nothing , unfortunately the quality of events and fights is also similar to that.

Another great video Propa, Hearn had some bumps on the road, but in the end he helped Europe take over boxing completely and I think most would say DAZN had a far better year than Top Rank and PBC, however the AJ thing was a complete farce.

I bought a DAZN subscription for Logan Paul v KSI lol. But we got AJ v Ruiz 2 the next month which was cool. Normally that fight would’ve been 60-80 USD so to get it for $19.99/month wasn’t bad. Plus all the Canelo cards. It also gave you the option to pause and resume your subscription whenever you wanted. They tried really hard. Just hard to keep casual fans without the big marquee names.
