Eddie Money was a class act as was Ronnie Spector. Eddie was a former police officer who turned into a great songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. Oh yeah, he could also sing. Check out "Two Tickets to Paradise" or "I Wanna Go Back" by him

My boyfriend at the time had just installed massive new speakers behind the seats in his truck (you guys know the kind, the ones that could literally change the rhythm of your heart to match the bass beat of a rocking song😉) when Eddie Money's song "Shakin'" came on the radio. Go ahead and crank it up, he said, you won't bust these speakers.... Sorry Tim lol

Be My Baby. The late Glen Campbell played guitar 🎸. He and the late Ronnie Spector played that song at the Ed Sullivan Theater when Ed Sullivan hosted his TV 📺 show. 1986 or later. At Late Night with David Letterman, the late Eddie Money and the late Ronnie Spector sang Take Me Home Tonight in that same theater. That was 20+ years since she sang there! 🤯 Eddie Money 💰 moved to Berkeley, east of my hometown San Francisco. So did the late Greg Kihn. The late Bill Graham managed both of them. Brian Wilson and Roger Christian wrote Don't Worry Baby. It was based on Be My Baby. In 1994, Garbage 🗑 sampled the chorus. The song written by Garbage is Push It. Shirley Manson of Garbage tweeted a eulogy when Ronnie Spector died. 😢 RIP Glen Campbell, Greg Kihn, Bill Graham, Eddie Money and Ronnie Spector.

Ronnie Specter (and the Ronettes) had a string of hits in the early 60s. Ronnie went on to marry Phil Specter (wall of sound music producer) The Ronettes toured with the Beatles in 1963 after hitting the charts with "Be my Baby".

Be My Baby was the Ronette's biggest hit, you probably should check it out. They were very influential, obviously she inspired Eddie Money. I remember when this came out, my dad saw the video and said "Hey he's talking about Ronnie Spector, holy crap that really is Ronnie Spector! She looks better than she did when she was half this age!". I'm all in high school going WTF are ya talking about Dad? He collected Ronettes records, I still have some of them.

Specter produced - Ronettes Be My Baby was probably one of the best songs on pop radio at the time. I believe it was pre-Beatles 1963. It was a sign of better times to come. Specter was a young genius about the same age as many of the 60's stars to explode the mid 60's.

They may appear older than they are. Ronettes is ancient history, and many of the Girl Groups did not achieve the superstar status, that makes them as familiar.
@lyngusrobb5323Ай бұрын
@@chrisjamieson3452I'm 51, and I grew up knowing about and listening to 60s girl groups because of my boomer parents. I thought all Gen Xers had to listen to Oldies but Goodies in their parents" cars. Lol
@chrisjamieson3452Ай бұрын
@@lyngusrobb5323 I will say this particular classic, is more likely than many from the early 60's. I've noticed many Supremes songs which were a few years later, are pretty much unknown. 5th Dimension is usually new to many also.
@Pablo_sanz359Ай бұрын
@@chrisjamieson3452 Maybe so, but Be My Baby (and the Ronettes) is so iconic any fan of modern popular music would know it. Or so I thought. lol Anyway, being familiar with that song sort of IS the point of this Eddie Money song, as Ronnie's line is a direct quote from Be My Baby.
