It has never occurred to me to buy one of the knockoffs. I never figured it would be worth it in the end. $50 is not too much to pay for quality rebuild parts. I used some Cometic carb gasket recently because they were on the shelf and they were quite a bit thicker than your Edelbrock version.

Love Comeric gaskets. I get it a lot when trouble shooting for people. Takes awhile when I don’t have my hands on something but I’ve had a few people with issues with the knockoff kits. Ends up just costing you an extra $20 when you have to just buy the good kit after buying the cheap one.

As a professional I would doubt you would use a knock off kit. I find this interesting as I just bought the knock off for my old truck. The kit is kind of an experiment to see if the spare carb will work at all. BTW those little clips are called O Jesus clips, because when your installing it and it springs across the room and your gonna say O Jesus!

I bought aftermarket kit and the pump seal is slighly small as he says AND the needle seats DON'T screw in. Also was only interested in the gaskets and some of those needed modification.

I bought two knock off kits @ $10 each for a twin carb setup. The same as shown here but no floats. The genuine kit was closer to $50 ea. so I gave the cheapies a try instead of shelling out $100 total for the genuine article. The cheap kits definitely had some issues including one that was not mentioned here: The accelerator pump shaft was squared off at the top instead of rounded and did not work as is. I had to shave the lip off the top. All said and done, I made the kits work in the end. It's been a few years since rebuilding the carbs and have had no issues with performance or otherwise. So that's good. Having said that, next time I rebuild, I will be buying the Edelbrock kits instead.

Too many little issues that in the end add up to more time to fix. Time is far more precious than saving a couple dollars, at least in my world.

My knock off kit was nearly worthless, accelerator pump diameter to small and the seat's were wrong thread and wouldn't screw in.

You were being way too kind and diplomatic describing a bag of counterfeit junk. 😉 Anything that comes in a bag for $20 and includes every single part of a carb is a scam. I wouldn't fix a lawnmower with a kit like that. Scamazon

My new year resolution was to be a nicer person. 😂 It’s junk alright. Got my hands on a knockoff Edelbrock carb this week too and O….M…G is it a pile. Horrible counterfeit. Put some pictures on my IG. Makes me sick. Someone will buy those and be pissed because they don’t work or something worse.

I work at parts store that is nationwide. We sell a kit from a company called Walker. It is a little more than half the cost of the Edelbrock kit. I was wondering if you had ever tried one of those kits?

Wondering how often this rebuild is required on average? I have had my Edlebrock carb 1406 for 3 years now.

All depends on how well you take care of the filters and the quality of the fuel running though. I go though mine once a year off it’s in that long but that’s usually not necessary.

@@MuscleCarSolutions my 350 small block fuel system doesn't use a fuel regulator. Will this be an issue with tuning? I have been told it's not a mandatory addition.

I ordered the same kit you showed twords the end, absolutely junk/ waste of money. I've had to pull my carb off three or 4 times now. Sad to say the original gaskets had more life to them compared to the cheap ones.. Buy name brand for carburetor parts don't waste your time on these cheap kits, if no one believes me I'll post to my channel of the kit I just pulled off my truck after 3 weeks. My truck literally would not run after installing the cheap Amazon kit. I just spent $54 on a Edelbrock kit so hopefully it works...
