tip: use 1.25 or 1.5x speed if you know most of the content and are just revising quickly

33:48, I believe the ketone is drawn wrong - the middle carbon with the double bond O has 5 bonds

in the combustion reaction shown at 31:52, the state of H2O was gaseous. It should be liquid right?

Why does primary alcohols react the slowest
@karishmadeegan82975 жыл бұрын
Hi Sir, will you be posting revision videos for the rest of the A level course? I've watched all of your whiteboard videos and they were very helpful but having the whole topic in a format like this would definitely be very useful. I greatly appreciate your dedication to teaching, Mr Harris. Many Thanks, Kari

When haloalkanes react with ammonia, why does the nitrogen atom in the intermediate end up with a positive charge ?
@AlleryChemistry7 жыл бұрын
Nitrogen has 4 bonds in the intermediate. But is more stable with 3 hence the positive charge.

@@AlleryChemistry hi sir, but how does the number of bonds deduce the fact that it has a positive charge ?
@nemoland4264 жыл бұрын
@@ramyagururajan Ammonia form bonds with both hydrogens and carbon, so it has *4 bonds* in total (instead of the usual 3). The ammonia loses one of its electrons to be shared with carbon, hence the +1/positive charge.

Do we have to know the practicals fully for the exams?
@jet32726 ай бұрын
It’s good to know your practicals since many questions are application questions related to the practicals you did. Though you probably don’t need to know the whole method for each practical.

Why didn't u make something like this for year 2 😭
@user-op5jt4eu5i2 жыл бұрын
Hi sir, at 34:01 you said there shouldn’t be an H on the C=O could you explain what you meant by that. Thank you!
@aatifmehmood33852 жыл бұрын
This is because the Oxygen has a double bond meaning it only requires two more bonds to become stable and therefore he is saying that he accidentally added another bond which is the carbon bond making 5 bonds which is unstable so that’s why you would get rid of the hydrogen on the bottom
