Thank God for KZbin! Where else could one experience the transcendent and timeless virtuously of legends living and legends lost? Steve Lukather’s otherworldly lead here is beyond jaw dropping, a master class! Edgar does what Edgar ALWAYS does; he commands awe, but shares the spotlight. And then there’s Jeff; a singularly gifted guitarist and a man whose love of the music brings out the complete joy of the moment. I wish that I could have been there to see this live, but since I wasn’t, I’ll say it again. Thank God for KZbin!

Your username brings back fond memories of SoCal beaches. My dad built a trailer for my Sting Ray, so I could trailer a couple of long boards down to Santa Monica Beach...I was 8-9 and a solid Beach Boys, Beatles fan. And I played my old Harmony until there were wear spots and the strings hadn't been changed in Lord knows how long... But I'm still picking. And a couple of my old Gods are here on this video!! I learned a lot from each Player and Edgar's Brother as well!

And do you know what made Jeff Healy's music so good ? I 'm proudly a Canadian ... and I used to listen to Jeff Healy on a CBC radio program he had many moons ago. He would play music from his (old) record collection. He was more than knowledgeable on music from the 20's, 30's , 40's and 50's. He had great respect for all of those people who sang or performed in those eras. He not only played some of the best screaming rock guitar riffs you'll ever hear in your lifetime, ... but, he was one helluva good piano and trumpet player! All of which is to say ... Jeff Healy's music was sooo good because he had great R-E-S-P-E-C-T for the people who went before HIM. He learned from them . Today, we have performers who learn three chords on the guitar and copy Beatles' phrasings and people think they're "AMAZING" ( an over used phrase for everything) ... when, in actuality, ... the Beatles learned from the SAME sources as Jeff Healy .... that's where it's really at. MUSIC is timeless and, in most cases, beyond genre. Duke Ellington said it best, : "There's only two kinds of music ... GOOD and Bad" . So, regardless of whether it's country, jazz, or blues, ... embrace it all and learn from it . That's what Jeff Healy did, ... and the result is right there in front of your face and ears.

Man why can't you hear the solo by Lukather? Lukather is one hell of a guitarist himself and, holds his own ground. I'm just really surprised not to much acknowledgement is given to Steves' solo on here. Man, it's a hell of a solo too.
@LaurieLaSalle266 жыл бұрын
Agreed Teddy, his solo was killer hot, the mind wound those strings....Jeff acknowledges it as he did with the horn solo with Winters. One never knew what treasure they would find on the stage at Healeys Roadhouse, this was some killer pickin right here.....Vocals were hot as well....

Weirdly, perhaps, I can't stand Lukather. He's such a jerk; he just can't help it: It's who he is. Therefore, my feeling toward him colors everything he does -- for me. Just keepin' it real. (The cutthroat music business can make you jerky as hell, for example, Ike Turner, Jimmy Page, Eddy Van Halen, and a cast of thousands. Which says nothing, of course, against their musicianship; they are two separate things. B.B. King noted this: A player is half man, half musician; when you get goodness in both, grab onto them and keep them close.)
