After weeks of testing my own variation on this recipe, I think I've made the most realistic vegan chicken recipe ever. These chicken drumsticks are made from tofu skins, and look so real that it is hard to believe that they are vegan.

By the way, soaking the tofu skin in cold water for a longer period of time will change the texture of the Tofu skin to have more elasticity. Hot water will shrink the time for hydration period, but the tofu skin will have a more floppy texture. The cold water texture, you can definitely try out for other recipes.

KZbin is slacking on notices again, so rude! ... I'm almost afraid to try this, I believe you when you said it almost tastes too real, lol. - But I'm going to bc a friend who lives in a different area with amazing vegan restaurants made me think of chick'n and waffles and now the craving is also too real! XD Ohhh, a "Holiday Drinks" video could be fun! Vegan creamy hot cocoa, eggnog (I know you've done it, but it's been a while and it fits the season of things), maybe a hot apple cider to round things out - caramel if you want to get fancy. Speaking of hot cocoa, marshmallows perhaps? Tyfs! Hope you have a great week. Best of wishes.

YESSS!! I just discovered "tofu skins" and "soy chops", which are texturally similar, but the chops look like a small patty. I cannot believe the texture from these!! And it's only like two ingredients, and ridiculously perfect texture. Same w the rice paper. I never need to over-pay for Impossible/Beyond meat substitutes again. This taste better (depending on what flavor YOU add), and more importantly, has wayyyyy better texture than any plant-based protein I've had before. SO good!!

Can I prepare these up until the bone-wrapping stage and then refrigerate until ready to bake? I'll be baking instead of deepfrying. Possible to prep and pause? Or will midway refrigeration deteriorate the skin texture?

These look SO GOOD! I'm thinking about a turkey substitute for Thanksgiving, and would love to make it gluten free. I wonder if I can combine this recipe with the Vegan Turkey Roast recipe (avoiding use of seitan) from last year. Any thoughts?
@EdgyVeg
@EdgyVeg 2 жыл бұрын
The seitan is really what holds that recipe together, I don't suggest leaving it out. You would try using this recipe to make drumsticks and make them larger as a turkey substitute
