Edison did a better job with the acoustic recordings than any other company!

Your collection leaves me speechless. Wow! They should be on prominent display. It's sad to see them all hidden away like that.

I don’t play my Diamond Disc machine as much as I should either. Been in my family since bought new.

The fact that these often sound much higher quality than my modern Victrolas really stings both me and my wallet
@Lucius19583 жыл бұрын
Edison was pretty much on top of the ball when it came to recording quality (with the exception of the noisy wartime pressings): it's a pity that the Old Man's musical prejudices, and the competition's contracts, prevented them from recording some of the really top artists. Imagine how Caruso would have sounded on Diamond Disc!

i guess because modern victrolas are more "budget" machines while this Edison is relatively higher-end I might've repeated the last part of your comment but still worth noting

would you say the Schubert or a C250 is a better all-round player?
@Lucius19583 жыл бұрын
I've never listened to a Schubert in person; but I suspect it would have a slight sonic advantage, with the longer horn. However, I have no complaints with my C250: it does a great job, even with electric discs - and it certainly has more storage space!

@@Lucius1958 ultimately, I think I'll be going for a B250 near me. Same as a C250, but prettier, and it even comes with an Edisonic (probably installed late in it's life)
