This is the best version of this piece that I have ever heard. Motion of push and pull in the right places, lingering feelings and emotions all throughout the music, and such a well-structured well thought of approach.

I really enjoy listening to this performance. I am weeping. I appreciate the quality of the sound, especially of the piano, which is often softer on recordings of this piece, and also the camera work on both the violinist and pianist. Here the piano plays a more prominent role than often the case in accompaniments; there is a constant interplay and dialogue between the instruments. This is similar to the songs of Hugo Wolf, and I wonder if Amy Beach might have been influenced by these works in the composition of this song. The repeating chords in the high register of the piano is similar to the ending of Wolf's song An Die Geliebte. I like the buildup starting at 4:30 to the climax of the high note, where the piano after pushing the tempo forward, slows down at this point. This piece, if one can get through the crying, rewards repeated listenings. Is this piece a masterpiece? I think so.
