“Rise above your past!” ⁣
If you’ve ever wondered who inspired me to become the man I am today, look no further than today’s guest! It Is truly an honor to have Les Brown joining me on The Ed Mylett Show! ⁣

He is BY FAR the greatest motivational speaker I’ve ever seen. He’s an author, former radio DJ, television Jost and former member of the House of Representatives. I have literally listened to HUNDREDS of hours of Les Brown’s content and he has 100% changed my entire life starting from when I started listening to him when I had just got out of college. ⁣

This interview is so powerful and so moving I KNOW it will change your life forever! ⁣

How does a man labeled mentally retarded at a young age, who was only allowed to drink from segregated water fountains and ride in the back of the bus go on to literally change the world? By BELIEVING that someone else’s opinion about you does NOT have to become your reality! (Although he didn’t start out believing that) ⁣

In this interview, we dive deep into how to win this battle we call life and how to keep yourself motivated to stay in the fight. We talk about the keys to THRIVING during these difficult times and how to unleash your story of greatness that already lives within you to become the ultimate version of yourself.⁣

We get tactical about the superpowers of communication and how you can use the very circumstances that you think disqualify you from winning to achieve unimaginable business and personal success.⁣

Les even shares a never before heard tear-jerking testament to the power of love and forgiveness. ⁣

If you want to “live a life that will outlive YOU” this interview is for you! ⁣

In order to do something you've never done, you've got to become someone you've never been. I think that all of us have great potential within us, but greatness is a choice; it's not our destiny. And in the pursuit of our dreams we are introduced to trials, failures and disappointments , which take us to the door of discovery and greatness. Les Brown

Thank you, both of you gentleman are so inspirational, uplifting and wise!!! I'll always remember that " anger is the wind that blows out the light in the mind!" Wow...never thought about it that way... I absolutely loved, loved, loved this interview. Thank you again for all this great knowledge! I recently went through a life changing event, and had many years of great pain and sadness...from losing my closest relatives, fiance , and best friend, to watching my mother lose her battle to fourth stage lung cancer, watching my sister beat beast cancer, to being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease... but i will NOT let these experiences define me or take away my motivation to keep striving towards greatness...once again, bravo!!!

Haven't started the video yet, but Les Brown's speeches have gotten me through some seriously dark times. I had come home from the psyche ward and on one of my many walks down Orange Avenue in Long Beach, I had one of his speeches on loop where he said "You have to say in spite of this... I'm in control here. I'm not gonna let this get me down! I'm not gonna let this destroy me! I'm coming back.. and I'm gonna be better and stronger because of it!" There were a lot of elements that helped me regain my sanity. Many people that inspired me to refocus, realign, and re-engage. Les Brown was definitely one of them.

I have cried so hard watching this, my eyes just involuntarily began weeping and I couldn't stop. When he said, "If you can make a man feel inferior, you never have to compel him to seek an inferior status, he will seek it himself. If you can make a man feel justly an outcast, you never have to order him to go to the back door, he will without being told, and if theres not door, his very nature will demand one." I felt that on so many levels. My mother broke me down to nearly nothing, and it took so much for me to rebel against the identity she created for me, to create it for myself. I have to work so hard to change that narrative and Im beyond emotional right now. Thank you so much for this.

1/When someone treats you like you’re just one of many options, help them narrow their choice by removing yourself from the equation. Sometimes you have to try not to care, no matter how much you do. Because sometimes you can mean almost nothing to someone who means so much to you. It’s not pride - it’s self-respect. Don’t expect to see positive changes in your life if you surround yourself with negative people. Don’t give part-time people a full-time position in your life. Know your value and what you have to offer. 2/Some things just don’t matter much - like the kind of car you drive. How big of a deal is that in the grand scheme of life? Not a big deal at all. But lifting a person’s heart? Now that matters! The whole problem with most people is, they KNOW what matters, but they don’t CHOOSE it. They get distracted. They don’t put first things first. Don’t be one of them! The hardest and smartest way to live is choosing what truly matters, and pursuing it a little bit every day. 3/Let someone love you just the way you are - as flawed as you might be, as unattractive as you sometimes feel, and as unaccomplished as you think you are. Yes, let someone love you despite all of this, and let that someone be YOU. 4/Be confident being YOU. We often waste too much time comparing ourselves to others, and wishing to be something we’re not. Everybody has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it is only when we accept everything we are, and aren’t, that we are able to become who we are truly capable of being. 5/You were born to be real, not to be perfect. You’re here to be YOU, not to be what someone else wants you to be. So stand up for yourself, look them in the eye when you must, and say, “Don’t judge me until you know me, don’t underestimate me until you challenge me fairly, and don’t talk about me until you’ve talked to me.” 6/You can’t expect to change people. Either you accept who they are, or you start living your life without them. And just because something ends, doesn’t mean it never should have been. You lived, you learned, you grew, and you moved on. Some people and situations come into your life as blessings, while others come into your life as lessons. 7/How do you build credibility? It’s not rocket science. Be honest. Follow through. Honor your word. Say sorry. Listen. Be kind and respectful. And remember that when you’re in a healthy relationship, being faithful on a daily basis isn’t a sacrifice, it’s a joy. Seriously, do not underestimate the power of a loving touch, a kind word, or an honest compliment, all of which have the power to turn a life around. 8/Don’t get to the end of your life and find that you lived only the length of it; live the width of it as well. When it comes to living as a passionate, inspired human being, the only challenge greater than learning to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, is learning to walk a lifetime comfortably in your own. Follow your heart and take your brain with you. When you are truly comfortable in your own skin, not everyone will like you, but you won’t care about it one bit. 9 Strength shows not only in the ability to hold on, but in the ability to start over when you must. It is never too late to become what you might have been. Keep learning, adapting, and growing. You may not be there yet, but you are closer than you were yesterday. So keep going, and be low-key sometimes. You don’t need to put everything on social media. Silently progress and let your positive actions speak for themselves. 10/Do your best to live a life that moves, shakes, and makes you laugh out loud every day. Because you don’t want to get to the end, or to tomorrow even, and realize that your life is a collection of meetings and “somedays” and errands and receipts and empty promises. take the lighter path,Have fun, give back,Raise your vibration,Max out your Life,Love is one dissolving agent that will wash away all your sorrows. WELL done that your progressing I know exactly how you feel being put down all my life but don’t fight the old build the new,Operate out of your minds imagination not your past!! Much Peace🕊

I love you Les Brown. Here’s why You do not preach victimization. You do not attack others. Instead, you inspire us to become more. You inspire us to be a positive light to others by giving back and encouraging. you inspire us to look at each other as human beings, as children of God, and not somebody based on the melanin in our skin. You are a man that would make mother Theresa proud, and Martin Luther King proud. God bless you. Please give us more. We need what you do during these times have uncertainty.

There have been moments where I felt stuck and miserable in recent times, but I kept listening to Les and I’m convinced that there’s a way out. There’s greatness within ourselves, we just need to explore upon our potential and not be distracted by unnecessary second guessing. This is brilliant! Les Brown also changed my life. I remodeled & painted houses for many years & remember many days cracking up while listening to Les Brown. He planted a seed of hope in me that has grown into a forest. This morning I woke up to a song, "The River" by Garth Brooks playing on my alarm clock. It brought me right back to 10 years ago, my first year as a river guide. I had gone back to "make some real money" & do another phase of this remodel project I had invested 6 months on, before the river season started. While staring at this huge hump of concrete that needed to be ground down so that I could tile it, I felt a change in my heart. That song played in my in my thoughts & I went up & knocked on the old lady's bedroom door. I broke down in tears as I said, "I'm sorry, I can't work on your house anymore." She asked, "is everything ok?" I replied, "Yes, I think you should hire someone else who WANTS to do it. All I can think about is how the river is running dry & I finally found my calling". I played that song for 3 hours, all the way back to the river to finish out the season. I ran the river so low that year, we were moving boulders the night before that we were getting hung up on at the put-in. I said, "I'd rather carry a raft down the river than a chop saw up a flight of stairs." I would have never even had the courage to step out & become a river guide if I had not discovered Les Brown. I had never even been whitewater rafting & I left it all behind (my home, my things, my career) to live in a tent, become a student & a steward of the rivers. That is why I say he changed my life. I have a house now, 10 years later & I still have a passion for the river. I always said, "I'd love to take Les down the river someday." Now, I'd love to take you BOTH down the river someday. Ed, you've had a profound effect on my life, too. My dad was an alcoholic, in & out of prison. I hadnt seen my birth father since I was 4. My little sister gave birth to my nephew 4yrs ago in a women's prison. He is half black & a bundle of sunshine & joy. My heart felt heavy when I heard Les share his story & the rest of the conversation was so inspiring.

One of my favorite interviews of ALL time! I had the fortunate pleasure to hear Les speak to our firm back in January. He’s a God-send. Ed, you’re the speaker that changed my life. You’re one of the 1st main speakers I heard back in Dec of 2014 in Visalia, CA. That was my first introduction to speakers. You touched my heart & soul that day. I thank you for all you do. I can only hope to have 1/2 the impact on ppl, that you have on us! #Maxout

Les is anointed and has a beautiful soul! He is extremely authentic, and has a powerful yet gentle presence! Les, thank you for your humbleness, kindness and wisdom. You spoke about Maya Angelou who has ALWAYS been one of my mentors. Maya was the commencement speaker at my nursing graduation(Simmons College, Boston, MA class of 1987). When Maya spoke you could hear a pin drop, her beautiful voice resonating throughout the outside ceremony. Her speech brought tears to my eyes(and to so many others) for many different reasons. What a GIFT she was to everyone! As Maya would say you are enough, as Les would say do something you love! God Bless!

Mr. Mylett I heard you the first time at our Virtual Impact Week with Monations and I was literally blown away but even more after watching this with Mr. Les Brown.... all of it was so inspiring and you know God gives us all a gift and my calling in life has always been a Caregiver... I know that is where God wants me to be and it seems to be where my heart belongs. No matter how many times I seem to have a different outlook God always draws me back to caring for the elderly and knowing that I can come and spend the day with them in their home and just to let them know they are not alone and that I am trusted to care for them makes my heart so full....

My perspective on life, from this day forward, is forever beautifully and permanently changed. My mind marvels at this idea, that every person in the world could watch your Joe Dispenza show, followed by the great Les Brown...and react how I have. I laughed, I cried hysterically (the release was beautiful), I replayed some parts 3 times before I could continue. I will play it for my children after their classes today. We will talk about it. We will meditate each morning and ask ourselves questions. "OQP" has already been applied....and will be consistently reinforced, for my children this is truly important - they have struggled with bullying (as I did at their age). Thank you so much, Ed Myllet, for seeking out and working with such awesomely great minds and getting this content out there. This is true progress, this is the true love we need for ourselves and one another in order to transcend - individually; ultimately and inevitably as a society! I am truly inspired yet again in this year...my 39th time around our Sun. Joe told us something like "don't let your brain be a record of the past, make it into a map for the future", and Les tells us how. I am eternally grateful to all of you and many others, to be able to walk through the door of this new spiritual journey. My mind is blown and I am bursting with gratitude. We have MUCH work to do!!! ❤❤ love and light ❤❤
