EdMylett thanks. As a topic suggestion, I am sure you have found that being a better listener to others helps you listen to your authentic self. When facing a tough decision or taking action in the face of uncertainty, how does practicing the act of listening to others, help you find the strength or courage you need to live more authentically? Virgil said “fortune favors the bold” and Samuel Mockbee said “proceed and be bold” maybe the root of that boldness is a quiet calm that has been cultivated through the act of “listening until the other person has finished talking, then responding thoughtfully.” Ed Mylett said that last one.

Few weeks ago it occurred to me that I was being a major douche to my wife. I did a fantastic job confessing it and apologizing and assuring her that I was going to try to do much better. I thought I killed it on the apology and we could move on. Nope. She needed to express how she felt about it. Even though she was pretty much restating what I had just said, she needed needed to go over it with me from her point of view. It was wicked difficult to keep my mouth shut and not defend myself. Super hard to look in her eyes and not say anything while staying interested in her speaking with my body language. It was a pivotal moment in our relationship. I know it's difficult but if people could just listen to each other better it would save marriages for sure.

It has not been going so well. It has been brought to my attention that I talk about myself too often etc. my thing is, I and my personal experience , my testimony is truly all I have to offer. @@EdMylettShow thank you first for your comment, dad was a smart man and his words live on long after he's body has left us to be with his love ones. In the code of Bushido one of the laws is KO which means Filial piety is a virtue of respect for one's parents. A person can not respect one's self if they don't respect were they come from. You cannot be successful in anything unless you're foundation is strong. You can't have honour which is MEIYO in the code without first having CHUGI which is loyalty and duty to carer and respect and lookout for your parents. So I think that will help the young people to learn respect, and you know thats very Important. What I know has taken years of battles to learn, but unfortunately the younger generation need years of battle to appreciate. As the Bible tells us to build your house on a rock. Ed, this is money! I love how you use SO many if not all of these key tips in your podcasts. I believe these work cause of the progression I see from a podcast a few years ago to one you do in 2022. That right there inspires me to put these into action. Thank you for being so authentic I feel like you are my friend.

Great video. I used to finish people's sentences for them. I thought that indicated I was listening. As Ed said, that's not typically true. One time, my girlfriend said, "Let me finish". She was annoyed I was feeding her words and finishing her sentence. I shut up and listened thereon. Our communication was way better. Ed's advice is spot on.

Yes! I love this topic. Fortunately it’s one of my super powers but I still have much work to do. Nobody is ever perfect. I have trained for acting for 8-9 years to be an expert listener, to truthfully connect, to respond truthfully in the moment. When you clarify what you heard then, as jim Kwik says, you are learning to teach. Body posturing is more telling than someone’s words. It tells the truth. Someone with closed arms saying they “love you” is telling you they don’t love you; or are mad at you. #maxout I would have driven you crazy by asking questions...ha ha...it’s because I am comfortable with myself...He wasted that time...3 hours?! Oh man...@edmylet when we listen and respond truthfully we can heal ourselves and others...most people just want to be heard...to be understood... Finally...waiting for your turn to speak is not listening. It’s not hearing. It’s deflecting.

Wow! This made me realize some hard truths. A lot of the time, I genuinely DON’T CARE about what the person is saying. Or I already know where they’re going and it’s taking too long. I think it’s time I find smarter people to talk with. I need a better circle.
@davidcraig77715 жыл бұрын
Smarter people may not actually care what you have to say.

David Craig that could very well be true 😉 But then I could at least be interested in what they say, use these listening skills, and learn something.

I am amazed how you can pass your message so effectively. I am basically using your videos for my personal relationships. I just think people should watch more than once and write their notes down to make sure they follow the lessons you pass. God bless you man !

I can feel the authenticity and genuine nature of all that you’re expressing here, Ed. It still floors me how so many people are completely unaware of their body language when they’re supposedly “engaged” in a conversation with you, yet really they’re totally checked out. Drives me some type of cray 😬. Great video!

I think this was one of the MOST motivating videos I have seen by you. And here's why: you are humble, present, and LISTENING, while you are coaching us to get inspired to become more of our best selves through listening to others deeply and thus serving them and us! They get to be heard and learn about themselves, and we get to learn about their gifts. People are presents that are meant to be open by listening to them: that alone made me feel heard by you. Again, just gold.

Excellent tips! Reminds me of this saying that I have always heard in banking. ‘People bank with people- not banks.’ Connecting and showing empathy & validating people has always come very naturally to me. I have found that very few people have this ability. Most conversations leave me feeling not validated. Most people are missing what I call the ‘sensitivity chip.’ I hope this video goes viral. :-))

Ed I started watching your content regularly about a month ago. I’m a life coach and an influencer (humbly starting haha) and I want to say THANK YOU. It was my boyfriend who showed me your channel, it’s been very interesting. This video in particular hit the nail for me. But all of them bring to surface conversations I’ve been having in such a great light! Thanks so much for doing this for us!!! God bless ya!

@@EdMylettShow I liked the 3 parts of how listening it makes people like you more, cause i have no friends, & i have no family so i need to learn to be a better listener. Other than my sister & my GF i have no one to listen to nor to listen to me, & like you said we all want to be heard, & for some reason no one seems to like me! Not because i interupt even though im sure that they are probably sick of hearing me though, but we all can do better all the time & you are my #1 go to guy when it comes to pretty much everything! Im just afraid this place is going to Lock me up for no reason before i can learn how to get outta here before its too late! Anyways off track but thank you for everything Ed! I am jealous of the guy who spent 3hrs with you, & didnt ask you 1 Q! I wouldve had my note book out or recorder, & asked your ear off! lol #imjstsayin #MAXOUT #NXTLVL #beinspyrd

@@EdMylettShow amazing I sent this video to my mentor and friend who is at the highest level of our business. I expressed to her how much listening to you daily and also the 2 or 3 replays of each message has helped me so much, which she has seen in me as well. Here's the thing that blew me away, she was so excited I shared your words with her, of course she is at the top TOP ,but it made me love and appreciate her so much more that she was excited to hear what has been helping me so much. The fact that she is humble, as you are, even where she is at and wanting to learn more from you made my heart grow., She has the mindset of continuing her growth and willing to learn more and more(even at her level in our company)! I can't thank you enough for what you do! God definitely had a reason for me to stumble across your messages. @edmylett YOU are changing people! will continue to grow as well. Hugs from Texas!! 🔥🔥🙏🙏 I mean ALL of this from "my whole heart" as my 9 year old son would say!! #MAXOUT
