Watching this as a reader is so healing, cause we were frustrated at similar parts, but seeing you want more gives me hope that the fans overall will be excited for more and we will all benefit from that and they'll take time to give us more. They need to give us WISDOM and Sister New Braid learning to control their stuff AND PERRIN!

I think what's so frustrating is that all they needed to satiate many of people's criticisms are just a couple extra lines or scenes here and there to give more direction and agency to the characters. We should have gotten Moiraine and Suian witnessing the prophesy in the first season to give context to their mission but I think their desire to ramp up the mystery aspects ended up leaving them with an underdeveloped main crew. All in all as a book fan who's read all 14 books 3 times over I still loved the season, but watching Brandon Sanderson react to the last episode with Matt from The Dusty Wheel and hearing the changes he would have made or how he would have approached some things made me realize how much they should have relied on him more for the writing. Regardless, they have set up A LOT of plot points and arcs that many fans aren't giving them credit for that will hopefully pay off in the next one, two, or even 3 seasons. Very excited for Origins animations next season as well. I bet we'll get one about the War of Power and Artur Hawkwing ;)

In the books, whenever a channeler is linked or has a sa'angreal with no buffer to keep them from doing so, they tend to become mad with Power. Remember that the One Power makes them feel more alive than anything (remember how Fake Moses begged the Amyrlin to kill him once he'd been severed from the Source), so that much of it puts them at the risk of burnout because they literally feel like a god wielding that much of it. Few Aes Sedai have the level of discipline necessary to wield that much power without losing themselves.

RIGHT?! These guys (as well as watching the Sanderson/Dusty Wheel reactions) are doing a ton of work for letting readers process the stuff worth nerd ranting about and getting to enjoy the rest so we can look forward! Amazon had better be paying attention to what Everyday Negroes is doing for the show! It's no small thing and The Dusty Wheel recognized that (I'd already been watching both before the crossover, but I'm excited for that to be something more and more fans see to bring in more viewers). Everyday Negroes are the best non-reader WoT reactors not just for excitement and wit but their theories are either hilariously entertaining or so right on it's insane given they're piecing together stuff that in the books had bigger hints by the time they're getting it here. It helps me as a reader to see their excitement and laughter about scenes I was unsure of, ON TOP OF the enjoyment of just loving the things I'd already enjoyed through their eyes.

The Seven Towers of Malkier in the blight is where Lan was born. Since his birth, the blight overran his kingdom. That's why he is the "uncrowned king of Malkier". The "Yin-Yang" is the ancient symbol of the Ai Sedai. It has two parts: the Dragon's Fang and the Flame of Tar Valon. The two parts represent the male and the female parts of the One Power.

@@TheJordanK two things that help me 1 is an understanding of history. History is very messy and the details are not quite clear. I view this as an alternate reconstruction of what happened. The details are different but the core remains the same. In terms of myth (which is what Jordan based the series on) there are mutually exclusive myths about the gods and mythical figures. Graendal is based on Grendel from Beowulf. According to Jordan Graendal was originally one person and a female at that. But over time she was split into Grendel and Grendel's mother. Jordan's version isn't THE story but a reconstruction. Like any historian he reconstructs a historical narrative.

There is a very short shot when Rand is walking around the symbol in floor of the Eye that shows Rand as if someone is watching him from underwater as he walks around a pool. Also if you watch the dark one as Rand blasts him with the power he is smiling/smirking and your noticing that the floor is cracked afterwards is another important detail from that scene.

I just couldn't stop laughing when I heard "He shopping"! Loving your reactions to this episode. Many of the fans including me were quite dissatisfied but you made me like this episode more, thanks for that. Your insight on Rand, how his sensitivity actually helped him, was spot on. The slick foxy guy you see in the prologue is the first Dragon, Lews Therin Telamon, and he's an Aes Sedai too. In the Age of Legends (aka Banana Republic) both men and women were Aes Sedai and there was no Taint on the male part of the One Power yet. Men are generally not stronger than women in One Power, in the show we just met the exceptionally strong ones. And how death and reincarnation works in WoT, you die and get spun out again years or even ages afterwards and only very few special people reincarnate as themselves but they can't remember their past lifes immediately and they don't look exactly the same. So Rand can remember bits of his life as Lews Therin, but he's his own man. I don't think anybody new that they will be able to destroy the whole trolloc army with Wisdom and Sista New Braid. Lady Amalisa is not even a full Aes Sedai, just an Accepted, cause she wasn't strong enough. But it usually takes 5-10 years of training as a Novice and then another 5-10 as an Accepted, so she knows much more than Nynaeve and Egwene combined. Just wait till they both get trained. Can't wait to hear your speculations and theories for the next season 😍 Have a great holiday season!

@Swiergotka78 Жыл бұрын
@@robnoxiousplays2385 let's put it this way - there are only a few men able to use one power during the time of Rand and the same number of exceptionally strong women. If we talk about strength in the sense of results, than I disagree, men weren't stronger than women. Strength and skill are nuances that haven't been yet explained in the show, nor the differences between male and female power etc. I do agree that generalizations are difficult to make for the source material. There's no omniscient narrator in the books. All we know is what the characters new and it's not always correct.
@robnoxiousplays2385
@robnoxiousplays2385 Жыл бұрын
@Swiergotka78 It is stated explicitly in the books that the average male channeler is stronger that the average female. Nynaeve in particular complains about it. Moraine (who cannot speak a lie and who has researched these things more than most) agrees, and offers exactly my argument (of women being more skilled and dexterous) as a counter. In terms of raw strength, though, it goes to the men. The books are very clear. It's not open for interpretation.
@robnoxiousplays2385
@robnoxiousplays2385 Жыл бұрын
@Swiergotka78 And in case you don't believe me, I went over to the official Wheel of Time wiki. "Channelers are not born equal; some are stronger in the Power and can handle more of it than others. Men and women who can channel are different in this respect and in many others, regarding the One Power. For example, male channelers can - on average - channel more of the Power than female channelers, similar to the gendered difference in physical strength."

lol love the comment "why he look old and young at the same time?" He was around 400 years old. In the books Aes Sedai and people that channeled the one power were described as ageless looking. being able to channel extends the life of the people that can weave it and those that are bonded to them. like Moriane is actually in her mid 40s or so at the start of the books and Lan is just under 50(I haven't bothered to look it up exactly just from memory and from Moraine mentioning how long ago Malkier fell and Lan was a child then), but she is considered young for an Aes Sedai. B Pretty much was impossible to tell age from looks, well... aside from the Aes Sedai that actually looked old, because then they had to be pushing a couple hundred years old or more(they also don't like telling the age when asked). Oh and btw Brother Book is pretty close to hitting his 100th birthday. Ogier live for hundreds of years. it's why they basically take their time at everything and look at humans as hasty and comment on them being hasty because they don't live long enough. they live like 4 times longer than normal humans.

Couple things: You know the actor who played Mat bailed from ep 7 & 8, right?. Also, the Covid regulations in the Czech Republic prevented a large number of extras on set when 7 & 8 were filmed. So between the two impacts, that changed what they wrote and what they could and couldn't do A LOT. They could not do what they wanted to do. No big battles. The trollocs in ep 1 and 2? About Rand and Lews Therin: in one scene The Dark One (Banana Republic) called Rand "Lews Therin" and said he could see LT through Rand's eyes. Also Rand says he recognizes the Eye of the World and remembers fighting someone there. I think this means that Rand/Lews Therin are the same soul reincarnated into a new body. On another note, I feel Brandon's pain about Brother Book. It looked like he was still moving so I'm holding out hope he's alive. Thanks so much for the WOT vids this season. The past was called Age of Legends for a reason! A ton of lost knowledge and talents will be rediscovered through this series that was commonplace back then, and it's one of the most interesting parts to in my opinion. The Red Homies in the end are a civilization that haven't been discovered yet, remember earlier in the season when the Blue Ajah bosslady mentioned ships disappearing to the West? Male Aes Sedai on average have more raw power than the average female, but women have more control with their Weaves. There's also the different elements, where Men tend to be stronger in Fire/Earth and women tend to be stronger in Water/Air.

That little girl on the beach has a name: Metaphor. As in, this new threat from beyond the far western shore is something we are not prepared for, like little children. I hope she's all right though. But I don't think so. Now let me just tell you not only is this the first reaction show I've watched every epside of, it's the first one I've managed to watch a full episode of at all. Y'all are great; I appreciate the way your enthusiasm is so infectious. It's been a mammoth task, adapting these novels, and I hope the writers find you gentlemen and see how effective their choices have been at bringing new fans into the fold. You guys are taking away exactly what they're wanting you to take away. Nice work!

Part of me is excited for season 2 just so I can watch you guys react to more wheel of time content! Also, I hope that if they have KZbinrs come to the season 2 premier like they did for season 1 you guys get invited! Oh and especially want you to meet Wisdom in real life… lol. Anyway you guys are great. Thanks for making great content!

As a book reader, watching you guys has not just been enjoyable - it's been an eye-opening experience for me. So many of us book readers decried many of the changes from the book. You keep hearing book readers say that these TV folks don't know what they're doing - that they think they're better story tellers than Jordan, blah, blah. But you reacted best to many of those changes. If you are good indicators of other non-readers, then the TV people knew what they were doing all along and its us book readers who need to swallow our words, whether we like the changes or not. If Amazon doesn't bring in fans like you, we don't get the 8 seasons they're hoping for. And they're bringing in fans like you. So way to go Amazon. My hat's off to ya! And guys - I'm subscribed now - and I'm going to go watch you review other shows like Attack on Titan, the Witcher, etc.

I agree with you... As a fellow book reader, I have to admit that book readers who think TEotW can be adapted 1:1 are insane. They are too loud not remembering how book 1 actually went down. The end of TEotW was a haaaawt mess of confusion. I believe the show will be able to do a good job of Season 2. There is no way I'm writing off this show. Perrin, Egwene, Nynyeve and Mat don't have much to do in Book 1. The story is about Rand. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Here Egwene and Nynyeve at least do a bit more, but in the books they're still weak in Book 1. Speeding Mat or Perrin's story along for our viewing pleasure in Season 1 wouldn't work either. It would be too much. We just gotta be patient and let shit be.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I had some problems with this episode, but it mostly some editing/direction issues. But the changes themselves? Knowing that, when you think about it, they are still setting the chracters in kinda the same paths as the books? I loved the changes. SOME book readers have been shiting on Rafe and his team all season, but it's like you said: They know what they are doing. And it's not even that they are better story telelrs than Jordan. It's just that they know how to write for TV, while Jordan knew how to write books. I'm actually pretty new to the books, Daniel Greene got me into them last year, but man do i love seeing the positive side of those who read the books and are enjoying the show.

Love your introspective comments. Not sure if anyone's mentioned, but the Yin/yang on the floor: the white half represents the Flame of Tar Valon/the Aes Sedai, while the dark half symbolizes a Dragon fang, or the dark one. The symbology is more heavily referenced in the books, and I know you've pointed out the few times we've seen the dragon fang before :)

Just want to point out, when you go back to the scene with Slick Rick stabbing Brother Book, he had Mat's dagger!! You see him tuck it back behind him after he gets done...also earlier on when Mr Miyagi and them are on that balcony that say there's like 60 Fades out there. I think they just didn't do a good enough job of showing how brutal that attack was, but they handled a few more than it looks like before they got through the wall.

!NO SPOILERS HERE! My dudes a few quick points I think ya'all mighta overlooked in this episode that might help with some of your questions 1. Brotha Slick had the dagger that had infected Mat AND he used that dagger to stab Brotha Book 2. It was mentioned that there were about 60 fades at the battle (we just didn't get to see em all on screen) 3. They did say what was in the box super quick and easy to have missed. It contains the Horn of Valere which can be used to summon great heros from ages past to aid in battle whomever blows it. They really did pack SO MUCH into this last episode I definitely recommend giving it another watch through to take it all in. Also REALLY enjoying your perspectives, humor, and content overall! I think WOT fans struggle with spoilers so much because there are so many books, and most of them have read the series multiple times, so they honestly lose track of what we should or should not know at this point. My husband casually mentioned something that I felt was a huge spoiler, and he was genuinely taken aback by my annoyance because it seemed so minor (and obvious) to him. He's not allowed to talk about WOT to me anymore 😂

As a long time fan of the Wheel of time, one point which isn't completely expressed in the series: The Fades' stare strikes fear in all who witness them for the first time. She doesn't t spend much time on KZbin herself, but I taught her your names for the characters, and she finds it so much easier to remember, like, Sister New Braid than Egwene. 😅 Her question: "Do you think they really killed Brother Book?" I highly recommend rewatching the first season, you will see SO MUCH that you missed on the first viewings. You may even find yourself compelled to make "what we learned on rewatches" videos... The young and old thing is a great catch: Touching the Power extends your life. Aes Sedai live hundreds of years, with the more powerful ones actually living longer. In the books, the female Aes Sedai all refused to help sealing the bore because they were convinced it wouldn't work and instead wanted come up with a better plan, but their most powerful Aes Sedai were dying in droves because the war was steadily being lost. The longer they debated how to do it, the worse the situation became until Lews and Crew decided it was worth the risk. And to be fair, they DID stop the Dark One from overrunning and utterly destroying the world... at the cost of breaking it themselves.

Don't worry about Loial, brother book, the showrunner has confirmed that he is alive ! And about Perrin , the whole season he tried to renounce violence, tried to adapt the Way of the Leaf philosophy, but now he doubts it more and more, and is very conflicted, the fact that he finally picked up an axe/put a weapon in his hands again is very important to his storyline, he tried to be peaceful, but is realising more and more that it will be hard with everything going on right now, so he picked up that axe, but wasn't ready to use it, not yet, and anyway Padan Fain has 2 Fades with him, Perrin would not have been able to do anything, as he doesn't really know how to fight yet, and he doesn't know how to control his wolf powers, so he definetely couldn't call them for help, his arc is only beginning, i'm pretty sure he'll get more developmet next season . Loved your reactions, amazing as always, love how invested you are in the show already, and it's only season 1 ! Can't wait to see you reaction for season 2, and also the ships at the end, were completely new characters, nothing to do with the Red Ajah, not saying if they're good or bad. :)
