And not even using the correct nickel tabbing. They make tabs that fit over both the male and female ends of the cell. Nothing should be sticking up like that. Probably gives a pretty decent increase in resistance And double layering the parallel strips but not the series connections where the entire current flows through the battery.... And running a golf cart *edit is a rickshaw but looks like it might have been a golf cart frame* off a 48V 36Ah pack made of used cells. Jesus. That'll put a pounding on those cells who already have a high IR just from cycle and calendar degradation, add to that the connections not being sufficient for the kind of current draw you'd get from a golf cart....

Good day sir, ask ko lang po kung ano dapat ilagay sa battery pack ko na 60v 24ah, 60A po ba or 40A na bms. Gagamitin po a ebike. Salamat sa sagot po.

It’s not a simple question because a basic BMS has continuous rating and peak rating it can do for a few minutes. You have no real control over it. A smart BMS will let you set the exact current limit you want to protect the battery. In your case, with a 20s4p (60v/4p) LiFePO4 battery , it’s best to use 1p for each 5a of your controller PEAK current. So your battery should work well on controller up to 20a PEAK. The battery can handle 40a for several minutes and 60a for 30 seconds, but it doesn’t mean you should use it with a 60a controller. If your controller is more than 20a peak, and you have extra room in your battery compartment, you can always add 1P or 2p later. Also if you change ebikes you can disassemble the battery and reassemble it in any shape and as big as you want, so thats where having a 60a BMS will help, for future. A smart BMS is a nice investment, and you can keep using it even if you reconfigure your pack 48v/60v72v and any AH you want. They have many advantages over a basic BMS, such as being able to balance at any voltage, not only at 3.65v/cell. It also lets you see how your battery is doing just by opening the app and checking. I use ANT BMS but for LiFePO4, the JK BMS is useful since it has active balancing, whereas the ANT can only discharge the higher cells, it cant move that to the lower voltages cells. Active balancing is nice to have for LiFePO4 because the cells you buy online are not matched. If you take the time to test, grade, and match all the parallels groups, you don’t really need the active balancing. Active balancing is only needed for unmatched cell groups, either during assembly of as they age. I am currently rebuilding my 20s6p 32700 pack, which had 10 bad cells. I ordered 20 new cells so that I can replace the 10 dead and the 10 weakest cells. Now im test all 120 cells, checking their mah. Then i will go to repackr website and type in all 120 capacity values. It will tell me which cells to put in each group that will make all groups have the same mah. This is critical if you don’t use active balancing. My original cells were about 5500 mah average and after 18 months they are 4400 mah average. Heat of the Philippines degrades batteries fast, thats why I recommend only 5a peak discharge per cell in parallel, and real use cruise would be closer to 3a. Keep them cool, out of the sunlight. Charge them only to 3.5v not 3.65v with Smart BMS you can set this, with basic BMS you have no choice but to fully charge so it can balance). This is why your simple question is so hard to answer. Lol

Lol. Exploding? These 32700 LiFePO4 cells are very safe, and the BMS will protect the cells from overcharging to more than 3.65v/cell, over-discharging to less than 2.5v/cell, which will damage the cells. If the pack is not fully balanced at the top, the BMS will block the charger and you will notice the voltage is not as high as it should be when you unplug the charger. Thats your signal to open the battery and check for low cell groups and manually charge it with a hobby charger. A basic BMS can only maintain the balance of a healthy battery, so if its not top balance before assembly, its never going to top balance (unless you add active balancing). But the cell has internal safety devices which prevent them from exploding. Each cell has a CID, which means Current Interrupt Device. If the cell gets too hot for any reason, the pressure builds up and it pushes up on the metal diaphragm and disconnects the battery from the (+) terminal. After that the cell will stop charging, discharging or anything that can make it explode. These are not like Lipo or Li-ion cells. They can take a lot of abuse and keep working. The main concern is not about exploding, but about destroying your battery. So keep it cool, don’t allow the voltage to get too high or low, and don’t allow the charge current or discharge current to go above the manufacturer rating. And best not to let these cells discharge faster than 5a per cell in parallel. Of course like with any battery you need to be careful to avoid short circuits, so its important that all the tabbing strips are well protected with something like fish paper and then protected from water and salty air by using shrink wrap or a sealed battery box. My 20s6p battery was recently overloaded because the tire shop put the front wheel spacers in wrong, which made the tire rub the shock. It was ridden hard for an hour after that, which pulled max current for too long. 10 cells had the CID trip, but there was no smoke, no fire, no explosion.
