A lot of the time in shows like this, if a person has their face blurred it usually means they’ve either been abused and for their safety their face is blurred or along the same kind of thing with children in care where theirs a huge risk of someone finding them if their face is showed, so for the kids safety it’s easier to blur them.

As a kid who wasn't the best behaved in school a lot of it came down to the fact the teacher's couldn't do anything that I actually cared about. The worst that they could do was sit me in a room with the kids who were also pissing about for an hour. It's not exactly punishing to be in a room with people you are already hanging out with, it's more like a forced social gathering. Isolation is pointless and I don't know anyone who didn't just sit on their phone for it, or piss about by themselves, a lot of them would just leave as well. That's another big part of it, no one was really scared of the teacher's and whatnot because if you walked off they couldn't do anything. They're not going to grab you and drag you to detention. The only thing stopping the kids from walking off is seeing the teacher's as an authority and that just didn't happen.
@charlocatt7 ай бұрын
ok, i actually learned this this semester. multi-academy trusts were built to support failing schools. they changed to an academy because they were failing and needed additional support from "successful" schools. they are state-funded, directly from the DfE and independent of local authority :)
@mjh72367 ай бұрын
In addition to this, when a school converts to an academy it counts as a 'new' school so a lot of failing schools opted in because they had a fresh start with OFSTED ratings.

Got in a fight in school for being called a (lesbian slur). Bit of backstory Im a bisexual teenager who wasn’t out yet apart from my friend group. Later found out that one of the people in my old friend group had told the entire school. I was called it in the toilets and little y9 me was more confused then anything until the girl started pushing me into the wall there was a bit of like concrete out of the wall and it cut my arm and I bled. I pushed back not hard or anything but she “was pushed” to the food. I got a detention for this the other girl did not. SHE WAS NOT HURT. Then my English teacher (I always thought he hated me) came and got me out of detention and put me in his classroom. He then told me that he was gay and the same thing happened to him in school. He backed me all the way and even had a meeting with my parents to explain that I was bi. He was a legend and I’ll never forget him I still have a little scar on the back of my arm and I cover it with concealer cause every time I look at it I see the slur written across my arm. I am not comparing this to racism but I wanted to share the unfair school system I still have a place within. I was bullied previously and have been since but never for being bi (usually about how I look or other random things) I hope no one ever had to go through it and my love to everyone who has gone through it xx

"Wow, I just finished watching this episode of 'Educating Yorkshire', and I can't believe the raw emotions and intense situations that unfolded. It's incredible how the show captures the real struggles of both the students and the teachers. The moment when the teacher had to confront the harsh realities of a student's life was so powerful; it really made me reflect on the challenges many young people face today. I admire the dedication of the teachers who go above and beyond to make a difference, even when it seems like nothing is working. This episode hit hard emotionally, showing just how fragile the line can be between support and despair. It's moments like these that remind us all of the importance of empathy and understanding in education. Sometimes, all a student needs is someone who believes in them, and this show truly highlights that. Kudos to everyone involved for shining a light on such important issues! What do you all think about the way they handled that situation? Did it resonate with anyone else's experiences?"

I really struggle with school! Attending lessons, Anxiety, my adhd and asd, my sensory issues im like the full package 😭 And at the school i attend, they really don know how to cope with teens like me! They shout at me exclude me and then i get mad and start screaming and swearing at them and then i end up taking all the blame and getting excluded. they dont care for my mental health and its really bringing me down especially this week as i got excluded. They dont seem to undersatand that our struggles are real with anxiety and anger. Then they say im faking it. The school system is messed up. Teachers can do and say horrible things and if you try reporting them the school ignore it, as soon as i call a teacher something im excluded or shouted at. And then all they cared about when i had the relapse of sh is decreasing my lessons agaiin. Not once did any of them ask if i was ok. Only 9 months left!! We also have a new headteacher and deputy head who are so bad and i hate them both bc they have said some horrible things And then on top of that i have so much anxiety as i have a Maths GCSE in 3 1/2 weeks. HELP Cam i had a lot of confidence walking out of isolation, the school and classrooms becasue of my anxiety and anger it builds up in me and then i leave and then my mouth is like rapid fire screaming at everyone, thats just how i am sadly. isolation sounds fun, out of class all day on laptop but the amount of times ive been in there at this point if i had to go in there i would rather be excluded even though i hate getting excluded its so much better!! not encouraging people to do this though

I half-agree with the head teacher. I think if the bad word is a swear, like repeating it if someones been called like "dickhead" or "cunt"...but definitely not if it's a slur. If I'd was called a slur (and I was...fucking A LOT, in school) and a teacher repeated the actual word in front of me, I'd feel like that meant that they actually thought it was fine to call me that, but had to act like it wasn't because they were a teacher.
