My main learning through years of recovery and essentially complete restructuring of a completely toxic mindset on food is 1. Foods can be nutritious and bring emotional comfort or they can stand alone as being either nutritious or being emotionally comforting. Emotional comfort is valid it’s when over reliance on any one source of comfort comes about, that’s when it really becomes unhealthy. Education about nutrition from sources backed by actual evidence also important and not relying overly on trends in nutrition put forward by influencers without any backing other than a sponsorship. 2. Diet culture is a business that is financially motivated and not rooted in helping people become the mythical “best version” of themselves no matter what companies put out as their branding. 3. Balance will forever be key in my opinion- balance is what is sustainable and perhaps even more key to that is being kind to ourselves- we can try our best and that version of what our best is looks different to everyone. These are just my thoughts.

I think social media has a huge influence on my “black and white” thinking about food, and years of crash dieting

Lucie - could you do a video on protein? Here in the US I hear a lot about getting enough protein if you want to lose some weight or trim down Ex: I worked with a health coach a while back who dialed in my macros and had me tracking everything I ate. The protein amount was quite high, and I found that I had to eat a fairly large amount of meat plus protein snacks to hit those numbers. It definitely moved the needle but I hated the tracking and the amount of protein just felt unnatural and unsustainable. I find your philosophy on nutrition to be more natural and well balanced. What are your thoughts on protein intake?

The amount of protein americans think they need is crazy!! And people think that getting too much protein doesn't cause weight gain like the other macros for some reason lol. Here's a video I made about it, but I def need to make an updated one! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mZvMXqqQqJaYm5o

Somehow I think it is good to keep moderation in mind. I try not to buy "junk food." I've been trying to keep healthier food available and pay attention to hunger cues, rather than eat from boredom. It is helpful. I try to divide thing s into portion sizes also. I find I am more conscious in what I'm eating.

All-or-Nothing sounds like a form of bulimia: starve & gorge. Wow. I never noticed that before.
