Can Diaz being so stupid to put something on his hand when he knows he is going to be checked by the umpire??????? The answer is YES
@chrisjones3791Ай бұрын
Sweat isn't a drug and the umpire had a grudge against the Mets. MLB is stupid not to punish the umpire. Diaz should have appealed the suspension and would have won.

10 game suspension? Whoa! 😯 ..Better just wash your hands before coming into the game from now on, Edwin.

I don't think I've ever seen such a stupid expulsion. The next series is against the Yankees and this guy was important and now he'll be suspended for 10 games. How to ruin today's victory
@Extem1Ай бұрын
You're not allowed to come onto the field with ANYTHING on your hands. You can use the rosin that's on the mound and that's it. You wash your hands between innings. The ump is literally just doing his job and furthermore he is not to give preferential treatment to Diaz just because he's an important player for the Mets.
@schlootleАй бұрын
@@Extem1 They let Max Scherzer wash his hands like 3 times for the same situation last year. I wouldn't mind so much if they had the rule and enforced it the same way in all situations to prevent poor public perception. They even let him change his glove out, which they wouldn't let Ronel Blanco do earlier in the year and didn't let Diaz wash his hands for today.
@duelist301Ай бұрын
@@schlootle It wasn't the same situation. Scherzer was during an exit check (coming off the field after pitching) so they couldn't be sure that the stickiness wasn't coming from sweat and rosin on the mound. This was an entry check (meaning he hadn't pitched yet for the inning) and shouldn't have had anything on him since pitchers cannot use rosin or anything from the bullpen/dugout.

To me, that's someone that has no respect for his teammates, the club that pays his salary, Major League Baseball, and the sport of baseball in general. If I were Carlos Mendoza, I would be pissed. At least as pissed as he was about the tantrum Jorge Lopez threw. Now the Mets will have one less pitcher for the next ten games since they can't bring someone up from the Minor Leagues to fill the position. That's why I said he has no respect for his teammates or the Mets organization.

@@schlootle Dude, it's not the same situation. When they interviewed Díaz, they told him: "why didn't you ask the umpire if you could wash your hands" and he said he didn't.

I agree with you but if he didn't wash his hands and it's rozen it's considered a foreign element and considered cheating.its stupid but that's the rule now if it ain't rozen then it will probably give him more time .he new it was sticky but didn't wash his hands as the rules dictate so he cheated one way or another.

Pitchers can only use the Rosen bags on the mound, they cannot come out of the dugout with sticky hands
@Extem1Ай бұрын
You can't come onto the field with sticky hands. If you leave the field with sticky hands they'll tell you to wash them. If you come in with sticky hands, you're ejected. That's how the rules work and it's not the umps fault Diaz doesn't know how to wash his hands.
@doc8013Ай бұрын
Let's learn the rules before calling other people "dimwits".
@vincentwendt720Ай бұрын
@@buckfiden1228 Exactly. On the exit inspection, pitcher generally will get the benefit of the doubt since they were using the rosin bags on the mound and they are sweaty. However pitcher are supposed to wash their hands before entering the field. Considering this pitcher was coming in from the bullpen and has not yet had the chance to use the rosin bags on the mound, there is no reason for his hands to be sticky and that's why they will not get the benefit of the doubt on an entrance inspection.

You sound so ignorant by making it sound like he was cheating. There have been many pitchers saying that rozen, sweat, and dirt will make it sticky, and it's legal. David Cone last year showed on camera that it can be really sticky. This is a stupid rule when a pitcher is coming into a game. Make him wash his hand before taking the mound. They have done it for other pitchers. How can he cheat before he even throws a pitch? They end up wasting time anyway for another pitcher to come in and get his warm ups till he's ready. The players' union needs to come down on MLB to figure out a better way to deal with this. Now he's suspended, and the team is also down a player for 10 games. Have a MLB official watch and check relief pitchers in the bullpen before coming out.

The problem is even if it was rosin on his hands it would still be illegal. The only rosin you can use is the rosin that is on the mound on the field. You are not allowed to use rosin in the dugout or the bullpen. As a pitcher, if you want to use rosin, you would need to come out onto the field with clean hands and use the rosin on the mound. Pitchers being allowed to wash their hands and come back out and pitch is when they are exiting the field and the stickiness could potentially be legally used substances like sweat, sunscreen, and the rosin from the mound. However, pitchers trying to enter the field with stickiness are almost always ejected.
@doc8013Ай бұрын
He didn't make it sound like anything. He very clearly and plainly laid out why he was being tossed. And he did so without passing judgement on what Diaz did. Don't be upset cause your boy broke the rules.
@nhdjoseywalesАй бұрын
If he got tossed when he entered he had not touched the rosin bag yet since that is on the mound and the check is out of the dugout and you can’t have rosin out of the dugout.
