You do realise that the THE most expensive way to get from Heathrow to Central London is a black cab. Next time, my advice is to use the Elizabeth Line train to Paddington.

We do now but we had no experience with underground transportation so we were a bit leary as one would be. So instead we decided to go the traditional route which was expensive…yes, but now that we’ve experienced the underground trains we absolutely love them and would definitely travel that way next time!

Or ( for future reference) you could use the tube into central London, depending upon where your hotel,is located. The downside of the tube is at the time of the morning you landed the tube would get very busy as you headed to the centre. As a Londoner and often travelled from the US back to London, I would never take a black cab ( unless someone else was paying).

Love it when Americans check out the UK, I'm obsessed with watching this kinda stuff. I used to live about 15 miles outside central London and went in maybe 15 weekends a year, felt like a tourist every time because of how vast the buildings and roads are. Other UK cities tend to me "smaller" in that regard. Highly recommend you guys visit Manchester and Bristol one day!

The hotel you stayed in is on Tottenham Court Road, the same road I work on! Also the reason there were so many leaves on the ground isn’t because it’s autumn, but because recently the UK has had very hot temperatures with next to no rain, which means the trees shed their leaves to retain as much water as possible. Autumn isn’t until September/October.

I really loved the genuine nature of this video (being very familiar with the area) - London is so full of sites ! Couple of things, the leaves dropping in late August was due to drought earlier in the year - autumn is late Sept. Your "Harry Potter" accent is fabulous, especially if you're 13yrs old ! You'll be fine to use it in London b/c no-one is English - if you go outside of London (esp to the North of England) they're likely to think you're mocking them (imagine talking like Forest Gump all over the US) - anyway welcome

Seeing London and thinking you are seeing the U.K. is like going to New York and thinking that is the USA. Great reaction to your first day in London. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I want to point out that the leaves on the ground aren’t due to autumn kicking in. The trees have dropped their dead dry leaves because of the hot dry summer we’ve just had. It’s the way they cope with drought although to those who don’t know, it might look like autumn’s come early. Most native trees in the U.K.usually lose their leaves from mid October through to mid November.

The tall thin building is BT Tower, which is the telecommunications tower for London. The leaves are falling very early this year due to drought, it’s hardly rained in 2 months.

When I visited in ‘81, it was called the Post Office Tower and we ate in the revolving restaurant at the top. It’s closed, now but I still remember the mock turtle soup. 😁

Huge tip do notget money in a airport, a post office will give you a better rate. In KL Malasia a money shop had a load of Punts (Irish money) they weredesperate for us to by them. They had exchanged them as Pounds UK money, naaa no chance some Irish person had scamed them.

i used to work at selfridges and that pub was our local after work drinking hole, the food isnt bad but you need to remember that those pubs are full of people drinking after work and not eating meals. most people in central london dont live locally so people have afew pints after work then go home for diner.

Looking forward to your vlogs from England but CANT WAIT to see them from the Prima!! We are loyal NCL and have booked her out of Galveston in early 2024 for our 30th wedding anniversary. So cant wait to see those. Plus i have a bucket list to hit Ireland and Liverpool so would be a great ship i think to do that. Cant wait to see the new deck and outside design for that deck. The layout of the ship seems cool AND loved that instead of making the new "biggest ship in the world" they kept capacity down and focused on guest common areas and the rooms bigger

There used to be a Mongolian restaurant serving goat stew on Charlotte Street - it was good! Behind Charlotte Street, to the south, there’s even more restaurants. In the evenings, pre-covid, those streets were stuffed with people. Some of those streets wind their way back to Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Street. Ah! You found some of them. There’s 50k pubs in Britain. There used to be one on every corner. Pubs - after work, people concentrate on drinking and maybe the odd snack whilst they can still stand up and function. Then they gorge on kebabs or burgers on the way home - usually on the train I’m on when I’ve not eaten. You didn’t quite find Chinatown … dozens of other restaurants.

I live right by Heathrow airport and it can take hours to travel 14 miles from home into central London depending on how awful the roads are on that day. Living here all 48 years of my life, I love London and my favourite restaurant is on Charlotte street, MERE by Monica Galletti. Amazing food and people. Happy travels xxx

Our 1st time to London was in 2019. We took the tube from the airport, with one change over, to our AIRBnB near Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. We did it with my parents who were almost 80, plenty of luggage and it saved us a lot of money. We were up for an adventure, and it turned out great, and pretty easy to do. I think it took us a little over an hour. The tube is a great way to get around. Next time, give it a try. They generally eat dinner later in the evening in Europe, closer to 8. We had great pub food like fish & chips, savory pies, bangers & mash. Also better priced we felt in the pubs then in the restaurants. There is so much to see & do in London, which I'm sure you're discovering. I see you also met up with Stef which is great!!!! Enjoy every moment of your trip! - Coreen

Great vid you two, glad that you're enjoying our great Capital City. The tall tower you noticed is the BT (British Telecom) tower. It was constructed in the 1960s and was a major communications and switching hub at the time. It was bombed by the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in 1971. Sorry mate, but the English accent is gonna need some work!! Best wishes from Essex, England.
