You do realise that the THE most expensive way to get from Heathrow to Central London is a black cab. Next time, my advice is to use the Elizabeth Line train to Paddington.

Or ( for future reference) you could use the tube into central London, depending upon where your hotel,is located. The downside of the tube is at the time of the morning you landed the tube would get very busy as you headed to the centre. As a Londoner and often travelled from the US back to London, I would never take a black cab ( unless someone else was paying).

In the evenings, pre-covid, those streets were stuffed with people. Some of those streets wind their way back to Tottenham Court Road or Oxford Street. Ah! You found some of them. There’s 50k pubs in Britain. There used to be one on every corner. Pubs - after work, people concentrate on drinking and maybe the odd snack whilst they can still stand up and function. Then they gorge on kebabs or burgers on the way home - usually on the train I’m on when I’ve not eaten. You didn’t quite find Chinatown … dozens of other restaurants.

I live right by Heathrow airport and it can take hours to travel 14 miles from home into central London depending on how awful the roads are on that day. Living here all 48 years of my life, I love London and my favourite restaurant is on Charlotte street, MERE by Monica Galletti. Amazing food and people. Happy travels xxx

So did I for 25 years. The area changed so much during that period I began to think I was living in Mumbai.

The tall skinny building is the Post Office Tower. in the past you could go to the top. there was an observation floor and a restaurant.

Our 1st time to London was in 2019. We took the tube from the airport, with one change over, to our AIRBnB near Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. We did it with my parents who were almost 80, plenty of luggage and it saved us a lot of money. We were up for an adventure, and it turned out great, and pretty easy to do. I think it took us a little over an hour. The tube is a great way to get around. Next time, give it a try. They generally eat dinner later in the evening in Europe, closer to 8. We had great pub food like fish & chips, savory pies, bangers & mash. Also better priced we felt in the pubs then in the restaurants. There is so much to see & do in London, which I'm sure you're discovering. I see you also met up with Stef which is great!!!! Enjoy every moment of your trip! - Coreen

Great vid you two, glad that you're enjoying our great Capital City. The tall tower you noticed is the BT (British Telecom) tower. It was constructed in the 1960s and was a major communications and switching hub at the time. It was bombed by the IRA (Irish Republican Army) in 1971. Sorry mate, but the English accent is gonna need some work!! Best wishes from Essex, England.

If you want to experience the 'local culture' head for the council estates in South London. TIP: Wear a stab proof vest inside your shirt.

Fall happened early this year due to the very hot summer we had in the uk. So heat and lack of water caused the trees to drop their leaves.
