Amazing solo... amazing guitarist. I first heard Testament in the late 80's (I was 14 / either 88 or 89) and can honestly say it changed my life. I was never interested in guitar until I heard 'Trial by Fire'. I couldn't believe Alex's tone, phrasing, and amazing feel (solos were dark, yet playful)... still my favorite guitarist. Months after hearing this song, I bought my first guitar+amp and took lessons for a few years (moving through a few different teachers) and still play to this day. I did have about 10 years where I didn't play much and gave up on guitar, but have been trying to get back into playing the past few years. I'm finally going to see Testament LIVE later this year! So excited!

The New Order was my first Testament record and really got me hooked to Thrash Metal. Will forever be among my favorite albums of all time. Thanks for all the amazing stuff, it’s mind blowing to come up with this quality as a teenager.

Yep same. It was a very dark year for me socially as a 14 year old kid with next to zero friends and I had just started playing guitar. I think I had seen the video to trial by fire and I was hooked. Alex’s playing inspired my own playing tremendously though I am nowhere near his level don’t get me wrong. Think it’s time for me to catch up with Old Testament material again!

OMG! One of my favorites! Besides the technical musicianship, to me, Alex's intros and solos often sounds like a story is being told. As if to say "listen, I've got something to tell you...". Love it!

Hell yeah! I was just jamming to this one last week! I still remember hearing this solo for the first time about 18-20 years ago after buying the album and going in completely blind. Such a contrast from the first half of the song, but man there was no going back after that first solo, I loved every song on that album from the first listen!

One of my favorite solos from TheUnrealAlexSkolnick. I spent so much time with those first six Testament albums in my youth. They are etched in my soul. You were 19 on The New Order? Good lord.... You all looked young on the CD inserts but I thought you were at least old enough to drink. 😲

@@AlexSkolnick-ok4ub hi Alex. Yes, I grew up listening to Souls of Black album when it was first released and fell in love with The Legacy solos. It was like nothing I had heard before and I couldn't get enough of it. The contrast between the heavy guitar in the verses, bridge and chorus, and to the solos was heavenly. So I'd really like to hear a break down of The Legacy from your point of view.
