Hey sir! So it says connect the Eero to the ONT but mine is in the garage and it doesn’t have a Ethernet port. My router is in the bedroom closest to the garage. Confused on how this is suppose to work?
@PicRic
@PicRic 5 ай бұрын
Hey there! The eero system is going to replace your router. The modem is used to connect the internet service to your own home network either by ethernet or wirelessly. Ask your internet provider how you can connect the initial eero hub using ethernet with the modem? Alternatively, what other options might be available such as upgrading the modem or using an eero hub as the modem? How the current incoming connection cable can be made compatible with the eero hub ethernet port? Once you have those fundamentals covered then the eero setup will guide you through the best placement of your other hubs. You can always refer to this video as you go through the installation process. Honestly it sounds more complex than it actually is once you can connect a hub to the modem/ISP. Good luck! Will you came back to comment on your eero Pro 6 installation/solution as that can help others in the future?

The one in loft has miss plugged Ethernet cable. From a wall outlet Ethernet cables should be going into port 1 and also don’t forget to coo next switch to eero near the cable modem
@PicRic
@PicRic 3 жыл бұрын
No, the one in the loft is not miss-plugged; the ports are not numbered on the pro 6 and each hub automatically configures itself regardless of what is plugged in where. I'm not sure what "don’t forget to coo next switch" means.

Excellent question, Selena. I took the one router and two extenders option which covers all my house. The video clearly shows PicRic setting up the 3 router package, not 1 router plus 2 extenders package as he says in the comment. As PicRic says in the description, connecting all three routers together with ethernet cable (AKA, wired ethernet backhaul) gives best performance. The eero extenders don't feature the 2 ethernet ports to allow for wired backhaul. In general, the wifi only extenders are significantly slower than the wired routers. PicRic should have also speedtested his new mesh network without the connecting cables to the satellite routers A wireless backhaul uses only one ethernet cable from the modem to one of the routers. The other two routers are simply plugged into electic power wall outlets. So, a wireless backhaul mesh is easier to set up, but the speeds would have been much slower too.
