Thanks for the review! In Australia we finally just get Pro 6 E and Max 7 which cost (AU$449 and AU$1099 for single pack!) and right now we have End of Financial Year Sale for Pro 6 for $244. I ordered Pro 6E then I decided to check on the speed different, you help me save money as I cancelled the Pro 6E and ordered Pro 6 instead. I do have 1 Gb internet but I don't use LAN at all, so Pro 6 is enough for me! Thank you for your help!

Great video! Best Buy had the eero pro 6e on sale for 349.99 plus an additional 15% off with router trade in. I had an old linksys laying around and got an additional 15% off which brought grand total to 297.40. I had a 250 gift card from trading in my 4the gen iPad a fees back. So I paid 67.02 out of pocket. It gets better no traded my 2018 eero pro second gen to Amazon for 80 gift card. Best deal ever.

Thanks for the doing the work for us folks that realistically cannot go to a store and buy the two to compare - well put. Hadn't revamped my home network in over 6 years and I was looking on the Eeros coupled with pfSense, but deciding on the Pro or Pro 6E, given that it's new technology and I yet to have a single 6E device at home it seems the Pro is the way to go. Very informative and professionally done. Great job!

Eero seems to have really dropped the ball on the pro 6e release. Would have expected both ports to support 2 gigabits at the minimal. Doesn't help that the cheaper model ended up beating it in some tests. Most likely buggy drivers? Was looking at an upgrade but will pass this year.

Im debating between these two. Most of my devices I believe can only utilize 5Ghz. So with that in mind, With the 6e, does it mean that most of my devices can are only utilize just the 2.4Ghz and the 5GHz (essentially wasting the 6GHz band)?

My ISP called me and asked if I wanted to get updated from my wifi 5 router only, non mesh, to the new mesh pro 6e at no charge. So I set it up and it was a heck of an upgrade. Interestingly my ISP must unlock the full service because mine has full access to the parental controls, which was also a good bonus. It got some updates a while later and it was better after I tested it a while later. I think it was in this comparison video that I retested it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nn-QgZ9jbqp-d5o But again the Pro 6 is pretty good as it is. If you want something better, check out the ASUS XT9 or especially the Deco BE63, those will have improvements over the Pro 6 and Pro 6E.

@@landpet I'm just comparing the wireless backhaul configuration because that's the most relevant use-case for me. I assume 'Wireless Backhaul' meant you conducted the speed test near the 2nd eero node that's wirelessly connected to the gateway? How far do you place the eeros apart? In this video, the Pro 6E achieved 497down 475up and in the more recent video, it achieved 846down 918up. That's quite an improvement, is that an accurate depiction of everyday usage though? I know my Pro 6 system fluctuate quite a lot.

Thanks for your reviews man! They have been incredibly helpful. I bought the 6e based off of this review. I learned afterwards that the 6pro has a 1.6ghz quad core processor and the 6e has a 1ghz dual core processor. You're welcome! You should be ok with either one for those speeds (I would opt for the pro 6E now cause it's on a super sale for something that recently came out). In another review I read, I believe it was CNET, it can and often does use the 6ghz for wireless backhaul. That said, they mentioned their 6E wifi devices seldom connected to the 6ghz band. There apparently isn't a way to force a connection to 6E. I currently have the Pro 6 and have gigabit fibre (my ISP, Frontier, provided the Pro 6 2 pack for free as part of a promotion here in the Tampa, FL area). I'm quite happy with it but am debating going to a 6E system.

So this still doesn’t help with Virgin Hub 5 in modem mode and getting the 1.1gbps wired speed separate to all other devices as the Eero would have to be linked to the Hub 5 on the 2.5gbps port. I recently got the Hub 5 and disconnected my Eero Pro 6 and switch setup to just try the Hub 5, seem to have further reach and finally the full 1.1gbps speed using the 2.5gb port up to my pc upstairs but Wi-Fi speeds everywhere else have roughly dropped by around 100mbps. Best wired speed I had before was about 940mbps as we know the Hub 4 is limited to. So it’s pros and cons. What I don’t understand is as others have said why there’s not 2x 2.5gb ports? I guess it’s just too expensive at the moment.

Just remember, when the 6 Pro first came out, people kept saying negative things about it too. Unless there's a hardware issue with the 6E (which I don't believe anyone has found), or I expect it to get better as time goes on and the firmware gets updated.

@@beni654 I haven't used it even as someone pretty deep into the Apple ecosystem, but if that's a dealbreaker for you then this is a no-go. They have no plans to get certified for the 6E (likely because of Matter support in the future).

eero Pro 6 is a solid system as I've had it for a while but between the two, I would get the newer Pro 6E and hopefully firmware updates make it even better especially for the wireless backhaul speeds which was underwhelming.

My eero pro 6 get 960mbps download 950mbps upload that’s the speeds on my speed test on my iPhone 12. I have two eero pro in my house everything is lighting fast that I use in my house. I do have fiber internet so that proably helps as well. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading till it’s more significant upgrade.

Out of curiosity, are you running the test in the eero app or on your iPhone 12 on the speedtest app.

Seems like a design flaw with only one 2.5 port. How can you connect to multiple Eero's and greater than gig internet? Am I missing something?
@landpet
@landpet 2 жыл бұрын
If you have more than two, you need a 2.5Gbps switch. So the first one would go to the switch, from the switch you would go to the remaining nodes
@timshephard
@timshephard 2 жыл бұрын
@@landpet Thanks. But then how would you connect to a greater than gig modem?
@landpet
@landpet 2 жыл бұрын
@@timshephard at that point, this wouldn't be the best choice for any backhaul nodes. You need something with at least 2 2.5Gbps ports like you mentioned but those typically cost more like the ASUS ET12 Pro, granted you're also getting better performance out of them

Sounds like the Pro 6 is overall the better option. My internet is 500/500 though I may upgrade it to 1000/1000. I currently just use one Apple Airport Extreme router.
