The o ring hook slider is so clever!

Thank you for the explanation on the bobbin tension dial. Also I wanted to see how the main tension dial (cotton cord) worked. Also the improvement on the sliding hook looks very good.

Will you be shipping a set of bearings for each bobbin, or will we need to move the bearings for each new bobbin?

Sondra Gingery I was wondering the same...

There will be a set of bearings for each bobbin. So with 6 bobbins you will get 12 bearings.

The new sliding hooks are a great idea. Are the bearings a standard size? In case I lose any so I can go to my local industrial supply shop to get replacements. Same question for the O-rings and springs.

Yes, all the parts are standard sizes. Basically anything I can make a standard size I do and then when the product is released I list those parts on that page. I really value being able to fix products that I buy so I make sure I accommodate that when I can for products I sell. While I do sell some replacement parts, I'm happy when there are other sources since my overhead for shipping out small orders is high so if you can buy those replacement parts somewhere else that's a good for both you and me.

@@DreamingRobotsBlog I will get a list of sources for Canadian industrial supply shops started for us folks up here to save on the shipping from the US (which is killer with duties and brokerage fees)

Hi. Thanks for the update. Can the o rings on the sliders be replaced? Are they just a standard size?
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 4 жыл бұрын
The ones for the sliding hooks are and I will have that information on my website when it is released. If you are talking about the drive belt it is not a standard o-ring. It is a Polyurethane belt which can be ordered online from some stores, or I will also sell spares.

Looks great, just a question... will the spring used on the backside for tensioning be something to buy at a hardware store if it should need replacing or is it a spring that will need to be special ordered? I really like the improvements over the Nano.

The tension spring attached to the cotton string is probably something you could find something close enough at a hardware store or certainly online at a site like mcmaster. The compression spring that goes inside the dial would be much harder to find a replacement because you need one that is exactly the same size. I had both custom made to my specs, but I could find ones pretty close to what I wanted for the string spring, but not for the compression spring. That said I don't think either of these springs would wear out so I don't see the need for replacing them unless something weird damages a spring and then you could probably fix it pretty easily.

@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 4 жыл бұрын
The diameter is 100 mm and I can't remember the exact length off the top of my head, but it is around 120mm.

Do I have to disengage the rubber drive band to change bobbins?

What is the difference between the bobbin release dail and the bobbin tension? I understand what both are doing, but why not only the bobbin release dail or only the bobbin tension as both seems to slow down the bobbin.
@DreamingRobotsBlog
@DreamingRobotsBlog 4 жыл бұрын
The tension system slows down the bobbin in relation to the flyer. This is required for uptake. The bobbin release dial increases friction between the flyer and the bobbin. This does not slow the bobbin down or give it uptake. If you increase the twists on the bobbin release dial you will need more tension too. It's kind of hard to see what all this does and like I said in the video the only really good way to see what it does is to use it in person. I'm still not sure if very many people will use it. I personally probably won't, but it wasn't that expensive to include and I'm interested to see what 1000s of people will do with it.

Dreaming Robots thanks for your answer. You’re right, I still don’t see what it does, but I do see that it has a different use on the wheel. I’ll have to find out later.
