Jesse, this is great. I am not a developer. As a business owner of a marketing company Alfred has been extremely helpful, but I don’t know if Keyboard Mistro would be too involved. I’ve very tech savy, but it would have to really increase my daily productivity.

I assume you're just making a joke. But, if not, there's a great Firefox extension Enhancer for KZbin (looks like Chrome has one too, but I can't vouch for that one).

So I spent most of the video thinking that I need to get Alfred. Then you threw that curveball at the end that you have mainly migrated to Keyboard Maestro. I'm a software developer so my main use cases will be scripting and snippets. Should I get Alfred, Keyboard Maestro ... both? I'm doing my own research too but wanted your opinion
@jesse19skelton4 жыл бұрын
Well, I started with Alfred. I was happy with it until I discovered Keyboard Maestro. Now Alfred looks like a locked-down baby version of Keyboard Maestro. I'm a developer as well and Keyboard Maestro is the way to go for sure! I do use them both daily. Alfred as a launcher, file search, clipboard manager and a couple other small things. Keyboard Maestro for ALL of my shortcuts and annoying things that I ended up writing a script for. So in short, both.

As a user of Alfred (a little less than 10 years), KM (less than 2 years) and TextExpander (around 6 years), I would say all of them especially if you want to create more advanced snippets, as fast as possible. From my experience, snippets in Alfred can be fairly advanced and easily created but not as advanced as in TextExpander and of course KM. KM user interface is not the best for snippets management (takes more time to create or edit a snippet in KM than in TE or Alfred), but with KM you can create very advanced snippets especially if you know how to script.

Great video Jesse - huge fan of alfred, but I've just looked at keyboard maestro and I'm not really clear what additional functionality this brings to the table. Most of the hotkey functions and examples I see from their forums can be done in alfred pretty easily. So I'd be super curious to see how you use it in your own workflow 💪

Keyboard Maestro, you create more advanced Macros, I now have both Keyboard Maestro and Alfred. Alfred is more of a Spotlight replacement. KM does better with advanced automation.
