Same. I'm not gonna lie. I was one of those naturals that screamed to the top of my lungs that grease is bad because all of the natural I looked up to said the same. I looked down on people who used grease, but now I gotta swallow my words because it's not bad at all. Last month, I used grease for the first time in a decade. My itchy scalp went away IMMEDIATELY! My scalp was so bad I had to wash my hair once a week and no later or else the itching would be unbearable. I could not wear braids for more than two weeks. Now my hair feels amazing and soft and my scalp feels so relieved. For me, this is a perfect reminder that: 1) Don't follow the bandwagon blindly. 2) Let people do what THEY want with their bodies and stop judging them. Lesson learned.

Every so often, people will come to tell black women to try this weird stuff. They gave us perms, jerry curls, and then now..stop using grease. Now we are on code and we know we just need to let all those people comments fly out the window. Our hair can curl naturally and we don't need jerry curl. We can flat iron our hair. We do not need a perm. Grease helps 4c hair grow long. I lost so much hair trying out this other stuff.

Grease is the only thing that is thick enough to coat and moisturize my hair. I remember in my relaxer days, when I started to regularly grease my scalp, my hair would grow and never be dry, from root to tip. When I became natural and cut out grease and started using coconut oil, shea moisture products, carols daughter...None of it made a difference. I found that leaving my hair in braids under wigs was aiding in my hair growth not the products. A lot of these natural products are too runny and dont penetrate deep enough. Its annoying having to sneak and open jars of hair products in the store just to see if it is thick enough... I think one of the reasons why hair grease got pushed aside is because the natural hair community and following has highlighted looser textures; and theyve become the platform for natural hair...women with 3a, 2a hair cant use hair grease because its too heavy so its deemed as useless.

I tell you probably on the 4th day my hair scalp would be itching I had to go back to useing blue magic super grow no hair itching... I put a leave in conditioner and blue magic in my hair every 3 or 4 days and I just use cantu curl cream everyday to sponge my hair that's it... I love grease too and its the ONLY product I recommend. People seem to get annoyed at this recommendation; I think they want a better, more expensive, modern solution. But the truth is that grease is a product that helps what naturally grows out of your hair thrive...a lot of people want a product that will magically morph their hair into something less BLACK...

I didn't want to get too excited, but I greased my scalp after I saw your videos. For the last 2 and a half years, my scalp has gotten very bad and I'm grateful to still have a head full of hair. I've researched everything from psoriasis to sever seborrheic dermatitis. I tried everything that they said to DO. Diet changes, water intake, all of it. It got worse. I was pulling scales of skin off of my scalp. After every wash, I would do my regimen, and then my scalp would start to flake and crumble. I can't do protective styles because my scalp can't go 3 or more days without having to be washed. I've been beyond stressed because nothing was working, from neem oil to that wild growth oil (which I thought was the answer). I wash my hair once a week and ended up washing twice a week to avoid buildup, threw out all of my "bad" shampoo and got new hair products, but nothing has helped my scalp until I found your videos. All these "natural" hair products did nothing but create my scalp issues. It's very possible that I have been suffering from sever allergic reactions. When I first went natural, I didn't grease my scalp often because I HATED doing it, but I never had issues with severe dandruff (or what I'm dealing with now) until I started using all these products. I greased my scalp and saw immediate results. These last few days have had me on edge, but my hairline in the front and back aren't peeling, my scalp doesn't feel tight with pain, it's not itchy, and usually on day 3 after a wash I start to have issues. I'm waiting for it to get bad and it hasn't happened yet. To clarify, I'm not putting grease over scaly skin, the scales and flaky scalp aren't even there which makes me I'm hopeful because they have yet to form. To think all this time I was going through this for nothing. I was hell bent on not using old school products because article after article said don't do this or that. Yet, here I am now because all this Miss Jessie knows a lady named Carol who's daughter has a pet Cantu ain't working, lol. If this works, I won't be going back to using all those oils, gels/custards, and curl cremes. I know other's have their reasons for not wanting to use grease, and that's okay. I do legit hope this helps someone who is out there suffering day to day like I have been. Wish us luck!

I was planning to go a dermatologist or a scalp specialist..changes in diet and nothing

I love grease! Growing up my mom used it on my hair and I had INCHES hunty! I mean waist length inches! She would press my hair with and it prevented it from reverting by repelling the moisture. It was not until I was about 18 that I quit using grease because I made the mistake of listening to these ignorant stylists. After I quit using it, I had a very difficult time retaining length and the breakage and split ends became my life. My presses also never lasted and I consistently got heat damage. I think black stylists adopted the no grease thing from white stylists in hair school or something. Moral of the story is I will never abandon grease again!

I will never forget being a newbie to natural hair and getting the worst advice from what I call natural hair puriest. Use all natural, co-wash often and use shampoo raely, etc... My hair was a mess. I stopped listen to the "rules" and worked to find out what worked for my hair. My hair is healthy and grows like a weed. Just as it did when I was relaxed by the way. My point is, do what works for you. I see people making videos like their they knows what works for every single natural haired person. When I have found out the hard way that even people that appear to have the same hair "type"...their hair can react differently to products. Anyway, it is interesting to listen to people say hair grease is of the devil when back in the day it was used and women and children had healthy hair with it.

My hair was the longest when my mother used hair grease. I still used it on my scalp when it’s braided but I’ll use it more for my Bantu knot twist outs

Ryan Payne I use to use grease as a child but stopped using it when I relaxed my hair. I went natural a few years back and I never used it. My scalp is super itchy and often inflamed. I’m going to get that sulphur 8. Truth be told, I’ve used the shampoo in the past but it made my hair dry. I’ll start with the grease and then see if it makes a difference.

OKAY RESEARCH!!! KZbinrs need to do their research before publicly giving out information. I meannnnn let’s face it, that’s where mostly everyone of this generation is getting their information, unfortunately. A lot of miseducation and misinformation floating around.

Facts. Hair grows no matter what and all that grease can clog the scalp. It can work fine on the length of the hair but you have to clarify your hair properly so there won't be so much residue.

NLT4Ever #1 people have been using grease for decades and actually centuries, because it’s something that comes from Africa (using a fat on hair and body). Your hair and scalp need the extra protection.

My daughters have VERY long and thick hair but I remember a friend complaining that I didn't have any "products" because I used sulfur 8 (oil scalp), water (moisture), and Blue Magic (sealant). Since moving away from that routine two years ago, I noticed my eldest daughter's hair got thinner, weaker, and isn't as long, durable, and strong. My youngest daughter's hair is super thick and long so though it was not as affected it's been extremely dry. Thanks for refreshing my memory on good old-fashioned water and grease!
