The reason why the show was not around the robovans is precisely because the technology already exists and Tesla is not at the forefront of it.

TechBro reinvents the bus and the crowd goes wild. How about making it perfect by putting it on rails? Safer, more reliable, and way more efficient (much lower rolling resistance). Oh, and you won't need to pay Space Karen a software subscription!

He fraudulently gathered a team of engineers, and did what Chevy, Ford and NASA couldn't for a fraction of the cost. Now we are stuck with these electric cars that have few moving parts, last longer, require less maintenance, accelerate fast, cost less to drive, so quiet you enjoy the sound system more. NASA is getting reliable access to space, for a fraction of the price. What next? Will our T Mobile phones be able to text anywhere we travel?

I agree with you that Tesla Robo Vans are a great solution for mass public transportation. I would love to see fleets of them deployed in towns and cities right now as Tesla’s FSD can handle the monotonous routes that buses follow.

Please excuse me but what’s the big deal for taxis, buses or tractor trailers having drivers? Lots of noise day after day to remove the drivers and have the vehicles run autonomously. Who cares if there is a requirement for a driver of these vehicles? Love electric vehicles but autonomy? Nice idea but who really needs our vehicles without drivers and even so why take drivers of these vehicles out of a job?
@kn-td3vt3 ай бұрын
The answer is obvious. Removing the driver means not having to pay the driver.

@@kn-td3vt what costs more years. Of research for AI or just paying a driver? This has been going on for way too long. Just pay the driver.
@kn-td3vt3 ай бұрын
@@JBsC6 If they pay the driver then they're just another taxi company. As with any new technology, the payoff comes after the research and initial investment is done.
@JBsC63 ай бұрын
@@kn-td3vt at least with electric taxis that require a driver the environment is cleaner and the cost to run the vehicle is less. Semi autonomous modes should be somewhat safer as well. Paying for a driver who is assisted by technology isn’t the worst thing in the world at this point in time. A couple of years of development for full autonomy is a goal set to achieve or strive for? This Elon guy does seem in many of his endeavors to literally reach for the stars and he has gotten pretty far taking mankind along on multiple occassions. Not all but many

Waymo is even worse - it just follows "virtual rail" and if something goes wrong with it's maps (like construction on street due to broken pipe), Waymo is screwed and has to fall back on the remote drivers…

The Tesla's Robo Van’s large vertical two parraleĺ flat plane body shape looks troubling when placed in motion, in mass, into a congested city population also in motion. A viewpoint asks “how well while this automated vehicle in large numbers everywhere seamlessly blends from others viewpoints shared by human operated vehicles produced of so many shapes,pedestrians, and bicyclists attempting to safely co-operate in a congested City’s very dynamic in motion environment co- exist? The Tesla’s Robo Van concept’s very tall flat nose toaster body’s style and, broadside area profile shape will certainly block other human’s moving around town peripheral view of pedestrians using crosswalks,at right angle approaching bicycle operators near curbside, pedestrians trying to safely navigating cross walks, even right turning human piloted vehicles attempting to look left to safely turn right on red into a flow of fast city traffic with the Tesla Robo Van’s blunt bus like toaster body style nose that climbs at a fast vertical angle just like a truck tractor, or bus nose will certainly block low bucket seated human city driver's left side view angles view point. Not impressed with this vehicle’s body design. The Tesla Robo Van’s body shape looks like a Star Wars Mandalorian - Beskar Helmet to me.

Just fine for hot lanes usage from commuter hotspot to metro. Low traffic. Not a lot of movement. It could change Lanes or wait for a remote driver to log in and handle the unexpected lane changing Lot of people will pay for hotlanes if it means no car. If you take the 15$ hot bus from the metro..to your town. Get 5$ voucher for a cybertaxi home
