A good question you asked about area reduction when collecting the cuttings. At the moment I think this is the weakest thing about battery power. Any form of weight carried slaughters the run time. That may be why, as yet, they haven't put rollers on battery mowers. But, enough of the negatives, battery has come on leaps and bounds over the past couple of years and I think this hurdle will soon be a thing of the past. Glad you completed that hedge reduction job in one piece. Nice vid too.

Definitely ! Such an important stat! Thank you Derek. They do the rollers for their Domestic 42cm & 47cm, which stripe Well! Apparently about 1 hour run time out of a 7.5amp. I do agree though, there is improvements to be made but they are at a good level.

If you're looking at rollers the Allett range of cylinder Mowers use the Ego motors. There isn't a rotary combo that I'm aware of yet but another brand that I have my eyes on is AS Motors from Germany.

So far haven’t seen any cylinder battery powered mowers, did they mention anything about reasons behind this? Great video though Sam and I think a lot of home gardeners like me are looking to switch so definitely a topic that needs more attention
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Allett mowers do a battery cylinder called the Liberty, and then they have brung one out last year called the Stirling which uses EGOs battery system. Definitely Allan, even on the commercial side it works brilliant, homeowner it could definitely do everything !

That’s great to know Sam, I hadn’t seen that so will start looking around for one. I’m hoping to switch soon

It's the cost batteries and would use batteries for light trimming jobs. Be no good for doing heavy duty jobs. Got be heavy duty before and more start be more powerful. Still use 2 stroke machines and four stroke machines. I need be convinced about operating batteries machines.
@JayRockGroundsMaintenance2 жыл бұрын
Hi Darren I totally see where your coming from and there is no doubt that 2&4 stroke professional machines are more powerful, but I honestly think battery is still powerful enough. If you have a moment check my last video out, 70m or so of a beach hedge reduced by around 5-7ft using battery only. I think they are more capable than people think. Plus with the fuel prices, spend 1 year of fuel prices upfront and you’ll get 3 years+ with the batteries. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l5y5nGqqobqZaKs Thank you for commenting mate 😄🌱

Outside of the climate agenda, the increase in fuel costs alone make the transition to battery a no brainer at this stage

I agree pal, it seems like there is more and more reasons to switch! Especially since they are up to scratch for 90% of the jobs we do🔋
