i have 2019 Touring and I don't miss the RX350 it replaced. with hitch mounted, I can tow small trailers, bike rack, cargo box, and roof top to greatly expands the capacity. MPG also has been great for commuting. in the warmer months, 52 and does dip to lower 40s' in the winter months. it's been rock solid reliable and HK system is awesome and free GPS map updates is a huge bonus of owning Kia and Hyundai.

The Tiger Grill looks like a sheet of Renault badges. I have ordered the left hand model, it arrives in 2 weeks. 1.6 petrol Electric hybrid in Runway red. I was really impressed, it looks like the US and European markets get a different Transmission format. The Asian models for example get a dial to change the drive mode with paddles on the steering column. We get the good old Polo stick. The Asian format looks like it's loaded with better tech. Overall pretty impressive though. Lots of car for your money.

Very enjoyable review. I totally relate to the taking-off-the-plastic experience! I just moved to The Algarve in Portugal where my girlfriend and I are currently renting our personal transportation. I was sure we were going to buy a Toyota C-HR as my last three vehicles have been Toyotas but for shear value, you can't beat the Niro!

Battery reset is to jump-start the car when the 12 volt battery dies, which happens often on all Niros. It absolutely has no relation to the drivetrain battery charge level being full.

The niro in my country doesnt have a 12 volts acid baterry, probably in usa is mandatory, they just section the main battery for a 12 volts lithium battery

Well, you’re wrong about the wheel size. With the EX package, the 18” have been substituted with 16”. The Touring model still has 18” and is basically the same car, with the exception of heated and cooled seats. It’s worth mentioning that no version has an automatic lift gate, which is pretty ridiculous.

Yes but the car has to be on, the gas engine will turn on and off to keep the battery charged.

The only trim that comes with the 18 inch wheels is the Touring Special Edition. Its very similar to the EX Premium

Nice review. I have a question. I have a highway commute with almost no breaking for 45 minutes. If I keep a constant rate of 70mph, will I still achieve 40+ mpg?

Great question. I'm not 100 percent positive, but I'm 98 percent positive it does. It all depends what you're using in the car. If your blasting the ac it will probably be lower but it will still be in that 40 + mpg.

@@TheChadinKorea too high, im getting 40mpg with peak trafic plus Ac, and 50 mpg on the hightway. I use only 92 octane gas, anything higher get my mpg lower, probably because the atkinson engine is a relaxed motor so a more explosive gas is better than a higher octane gas (less explosive)

@@luisenriquemelzer6124 92 or 94 is generally the highest grade before race or aviation gas. Higher octane burns slower, if that's what you mean by explosive. 87 and 89 octane is ideal for a 9:1 or 9.5:1 compression ratio that the engine has. 93ish doesn't get you much more unless you are pushing the engine hard, but if that was the case, you wouldn't be in a hybrid

@@scottallberry6713 the manual say that lowest possible octane has to be 92 octanes, octane is resistance to detonation, the atkinson cycle is a low power engine but super eficient

Given how similar in size and shape to my 3rd gen Soul, and that this has independent rear suspension, I was surprised that Consumer Report showed a big difference in handling, where the Soul was able to reach 55mph in their 'avoidance maneuver test', (the same for the Seltos) while the Niro could only do it at 51mph. What is different that would effect its agility? I couldn't find any comparisons online to the performance between the Soul and Niro, oddly, whereas there is with the Soul and Seltos, given that the Soul and Niro are both FWD and a better size match. Can you comment on the driving experience by comparison? Specifically: (1) acceleration, such as getting up to speed on an onramp, (2) pushing it in curves, and (3) ride quality in terms of interior noise level and ride harshness/softness?

Always found the 0-60 stat useless. I never do that. I want to know 40-60. That, I do ask the time getting on the freeway.

Is there enough room for a car seat in the back? We’re giving our 2014 Soul EX, which I love, to our son. If the Soul came as hybrid it would be a no brainer. One important feature of the Soul is the short 160 length which really helps out with parking in San Francisco. Anyone who has been here knows exactly what I mean. How does this compare? Ps. I might have more questions so please excuse multiple posts.

There is room for a child seat. I think you would love the size of the Niro. It's 10 inches longer. But personally I would have said they were the same size if i didn't look at my cheat sheet. With those up and down roads in San Francisco you could really take advantage of the Niro's regenerative braking system. I've been to San Francisco you have to have strong calves to live there. I'm also a huge Giant's fan.

The only two drawbacks...given the costs: 1. 16'' rims - should be at least 17 or 18. 2. No front collision avoidance or pedestrian detection. Other models have it.
