First thing first thank you for the video always appreciate it. And this is a crew fishing video and you made me appreciate your channel even more you didn't try to sugarcoat you didn't try to act as if you know each scene cut out where you're not catching anything you show the truth of fishing it isn't always catch catch and catch sometimes you fish all day and only catch one sometimes you don't catch anything at all and to me y'all just showed how fishing really is.thank you as always best fishing videos out on KZbin

So happy with this follow-on from previous video in that, this time, you finally were rewarded with some halibut. Given the large volume of starfish especially on the previous video I often wonder what goes through your mind as you de-hook these creatures and release them to the ocean with the thought , "see you again next set". From your actions when you grab the animal around the scruff of the neck ? to de hook it, If it was me I would be thinking and physically acting, you mongrel and wring its neck. Nice thought but I guess the starfish does not have a neck to wring like a chicken. On another note I liked the brotherly love and given sense of pride when you looked around at Tristan as he was undertaken some work at the back of the boat which he was doing without any request, and you nodded and gave the impression of saying, good work, well done. I do admire Tristan's work ethic as he is not on the boat on a regular basis and I acknowledge that for practical purposes we have to bait with old bait left in the hold. The reality is that by the time the target fish get a look at it; the rubbish fish have already consumed it as it is very soft and easily removed from the hooks. On that basis I wonder the worth of baiting with such soft and rottenness, but that is bye the bye, my point here is that well done Tristan, your not on the boat on a day to day basis and you are not like me, I would have been heaving last weeks meals over the side of the boat with the excuse it could be classified as chum.

The starfish can get a bit demoralizing, but you never know what will be on the next hook. Thats the eternal optimism of a fisherman I guess. 😂 tristen does great work, its boring and mindless and he does it without protest, always proud of him. Thanks for the great comment, sandra!

You know I think I like the angle of the camera the way you got to set now you can see pretty much everything Not sure what you're doing on the other side of the reel when you're over there standing bend over looking at something but that's not a big deal I like this angle you can see where t's baiting the hooks and you can seen the whole rail action. But he's not real fast but t's also not had the privilege of being on the boat as much he stays home helps mom which is great because Mom always needs help no matter what moms are important but not a bad video this time awesome thank you appreciate it

Curious, also, about the white blobs towards the end of the video. Anemones? Also, do the sea stars impact your catch rate by getting to the bait before the halibut? Great to see Tristan on board…love his contributions to the efforts and to the channel. Still looking forward to some catch/cook videos…I imagine you have some great recipes to share with us. Peace!

Just curious, how much by catch of cod are you allowed longlining halibut? Do you guys just do day runs or do you camp out for a day or so? I know you will be able to take longer trips on EI, looking forward to watching those videos when she makes her first real fishing trip.😊

I’m sure there are some consequences but I think unless it’s egregious offense they may let you slide on one or two. We always play it safe though, not worth keeping if you’re unsure to risk a fine. We’re out fishing again but once the season concludes we’ll be sure to get one out to you!
