I think it's important to put the blame where it actually belongs--on Congress! People love to talk like "we" didn't listen. That is so false it's absurd to even think of talking this way. As a retired and very successful General, President Eisenhower had a unique understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the military industrial complex which had developed during World War II. Because that same means we had then, and as we do now, was always a private business venture, reliant on the profit of it's product to ensure an ever expanding growth. An alert and informed citizenry back then was alerted and informed by the news agency on what was happening in the world which lay beyond one's eyes, ears, and the means to travel to somewhere to witness as much on their own behalf. Those same news agencies now where the facade of keeping you secure and confident on where matters stand and yet they do the exact opposite now, because rape is money, murder is money, crime is money, war is money, and when the end of the world comes the news reporter will be unable to contain his glee at all of the ratings it must surely mean. And so we watch the past's equivalent of a tabloid, conducted without any sense of paternalism or fraternity, by strange and crooked scoundrels who cannot think outside of numerical values, and through numbers which were probably made up in the first place. And do not confuse this wicked behavior as some conspiracy by some unseen enemy set to subjegate or destroy you because you know it all too well. It's right there against your hip, inside of your pocket and tucked inside of your wallet. Because money has no other thought than to make more of itself out your own abuse.
