Eivør - Into The Mist (Lyrics) Waking in the mist, no one knows where i've been. Far from my home now, going in circles round and round I'm on my own now. Something's hiding in the dark lurking in between the rocks, whispers in my ear i turn around, but no one's there i call up but there's no answer Shadow shadow by my side drifting through the misty night Are you wandering just like me within this sad reality Can you tell what's happening nothing's ever what it seems Do you see their flashlights hanging across the hillside Did they call it off tonight? Shadow shadow by my side drifing through the misty night Are you wandering just like me within this sad reality Are you taking me closer to the brink? Above the mountain facing the darkness can you feel this loneliness? shadow shadow by my side drifting through the misty night are you wandering just like me within this sad reality shadow won't you stay with me nothing's ever what it seems are you wandering just like me within this sad reality

Its so odd hearing it in English after I've heard it 1,000x in Faroese. It might grow on me..might not... Her English is really good..I expected it to be not as good. I'm interested in Trollabundin in English... I hope though she gets famous around the world but continues to do all her albums in Faroese first...
@roylidstone36787 жыл бұрын
Eivør is an international artist, The 'original' Slør is exactly that, and will always be there, but having an English version give a wider audience more choice, introducing many more new bands to her music, but offering both. (not uncommon) Don't worry, she will not walk away from her roots, SLØR is one of 10 albums, most of those are in English. Trøllabundin wont be in English as it does't really translate. Its developed from 12 years of performing it. can't wait for the new album next year!!

I totally agree with you. It sounds so surreal to hear it in English. It sounds really off even though there isn’t actually anything wrong with it. Humans are just biased to prefer things they find familiar, which makes a lot of evolutionary sense. No doubt I’ll end up liking this version too if I listen to it enough.
@jenniraisovna56984 жыл бұрын
It's interesting to read all these comments because my first exposure to her was through the exact song in English after which I got in love with her. Now of course other of her songs grew on me, but English one isn't bad when that's the first time you listen to her.😊

I think it speaks volumes the fact that most comments on here indicate that they (like myself) prefer the original. even though most of us on here do not speak Faroese, the music you created transcends language and cultural barriers. everyone can understand it without knowing what the words actually mean.

To everyone who keeps going on about the Original being better... There was no "original" In this album she wrote BOTH songs one in her native tongue and one in English, with different lyrics, along a similar theme but they are both sides to the thought. Like a mirror. So this is not "the English version" this is the other half. Go read about it, she was making two sided art throughout the album.

I got lost in the dark on a mountain in the middle of the Adirondacks in America. When she talks about the flash lights coming up over the hill, i felt that. By that time I wasn’t even sure what it was, i was dehydrated and slightly delusional. I did a ritual on the top of that mountain that day, and looking back I understand a lot of things now. The universe is strange, and this song makes me think of this pivotal moment in my life.

I love both versions; I discovered song 1st in other language, then the English one. What gets me is her throat singing .... I like bands like the HU, who are getting alot of attention etc (I do like alot of their stuff), but she is and has been throat singing wayy before I ever heard of HU ! Her "yamma he yamma .... awe yamma he yamma he " (sorta like that) ... is pretty darn amazing to me! Very primal or emotional kinda. This song oddly was my go to song since I discovered it when not able to sleep during my hubby's 1st brain tumor surgery. 'Shadow shadow by my side ... " I felt like a shadow was over us during stuff, not creepy, just that life has Light & also challenging times~

WOW! This is a pure masterpiece....a perfect marriage between her ancient inspirational roots and modern electronica....I just discovered her a few days ago - and wow am I impressed as well as thankful for that! Your music is a true gift for the world - I only wish you had a far greater audience, so that more people could savor your gifts..as a matter of fact, it puzzles me that you don't already have a much greater following! I guess that's my only complaint. Almost every single song goes straight to my playlist at this point! Keep up the fantastic work!
