The venue is over the Sognefjord in Norway. Eivør was guesting the norwegian band Vamp. Eivør is from the Faeroy islands.

Hi Ashlena! I got to experience this concert. Eivor was a guest performer with a Norwegian band called Vamp. the concert was at Stigen in the Aurlandafjorden in Norway. a fantastic experience.

I heard her explain, that she has had 2 short lessons on throat singing. One from I think a Canadian artist, perhaps First Nation, and one from another throat singer. Rather than developing full throat singing, she developed it into her own style for what she wanted.

Great to see more Eivor. She is the best. To bad Christmas is over. Otherwise I would have recommend her live version of War is Over with full orchestra, recorderd for Danish tv last year. Maybe next Christmas?:) Gullspunnin is a beautiful song. Give it a listen:)

I would recommend True Love Sofa (songs from a room) Los Angeles as your next list. Also she sang for the sound track of The Last Kingdom TV series, in a collaboration with the composer John Lunn. John Lunn actually contacted her after his manager showed him this performance of Trodlabundin. The live performance of the title track is well worth seeing. As you'll appreciate, Eivor has a big back catalogue of material, as she's been performing since her mid teens. There's a wide variety of music, and she's even a trained opera singer. I would also check out her younger sister Elinborg, and Sjorock (live) by her is epic.

this happens when someone is not only a classically trained sopran, but also owns a masters degree in traditional nordic vocal techniques. reccomended: wake me up live at rtt slor london solo sessions boxes live 2012 gloomy sunday with this atist in the background its really hard to find someone at least equal to her vocal quality and yet there is helen sjöholm on this list. she blew me away, literally. never seen anyone perform with her intensity. the song is taken from a musical by abbas benny and björn, kristina fran duvemala. lets see if this works with a link to it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJyaZ5KfptxghsU

I agree with you that you would rather listen to "Falling free" instead of "Trodlabundin", because here, the visuals play a great role as well, to make this piece of art a masterpiece. Next one from Eivor should DEFINITELY be "Gullspunnin (Live on KVF)", one of my absolute favourite performances of her ! Goosebumps guaranteed ! This time with her band again, PLIS a women's choir ! It's simply gorgeous and magical. You can easily find a translation of the lyrics in the net. "Gullspunnin" translates to "Spun in gold" Best wishes from your fan Gerry

A trio of a norwegian woman, a danish guy and a german guy. Plus an army of "viking era warriors" on stage. They have awakened the ancient music originating in the germanic/nordic tribes of the era between the bronze age and the viking age. The concerts are not really concerts but rather rituals. Both Eivor and Aurora have sung vocals on Helvegen, with Wardruna and Einar Selvik (who grew up in the same area of Norway as Aurora). Agree about Heilung. I learned of both Eivor and Aurora after listening to Heilung.
