How does one catch an ocean striper in the bay? Have you ever tried hooking the live anchovy horizontally just behind the head? The bait will swim more freely and have more action usually resulting in more hook ups compared to hooking them through the mouth and nose dragging them towards the leader.

It's the Cousins, CPX 806, 8.0", 12 - 20 Lb line, rod. I love this rod. I highly recommend it. I like the look, the feel, the action....

El Presidente, It was $120 for full day. Good boat to go on. Fast Eddie (the captain), will put you on the fish.

I’m not to familiar with what fish is in season in the Bay Area? So if I go on a charter what’s being caught right now?

There are boats running "Pot Luck" (halibut & striped bass), and there are boats that are either trolling or mooching for Salmon. I think the salmon trips are $130. Full day. Happy Hooker is Pot Luck boat, but they troll salmon every Thursday. El Dorado is Pot Luck - I don't know if they do salmon. California Dawn is Pot Luck and Salmon. The New El Dorado 3 is trolling salmon. Goldeneye 2000 is mooching salmon. I'm not sure what Sea Bass is doing. The New Easy Rider is trolling salmon, but they might have a Pot Luck trip - not sure.
