It would be interesting to see what happens after the battery dries out, and what Elbilmek does with it in the end. Will it be repairable? If not, will Elbilmek sell the parts? Are the power electronics in the penthouse still in good shape to be installed as used parts?

It's flood damage rather than what one might imagine from "water damage". The car stood in flood water for some time. It's in one of Bjørn's earlier videos where he shows the flood height etc - up to the sills from memory, but not the cabin floor.

the cells are encased, only issue should be the BMS balance wires. probably a bunch of corroded connectors. that should be an easy fix. prehaps grab parts from another pack that has been in a crash but has good non corroded pcb's. but i would first check if the readings are not wrong as its not the official tesla software and the readout might be buggy.

Tesla is all about reducing manufacturing cost, so they eliminate every part and step not essential. On the Model Y with the structural pack the front seats and consul is mounted directly on the battery and the battery is the floor of the car. When they take it out there is just a huge hole where the floor is suppose to be.

Its just 4 bolts. Calm down. Much better than removing the heavy battery to change a small module. I'm not a Tesla fan. I would prefer a different car. You need to remove the back seats to get to get to a fuel pump, too. On some models you need to remove the tank from under the car to get to it. Dumb design.

@@bjornnyland you don’t think the battery pack should be removable by the consumer? The 12 volt battery in cars is made accessible on purpose. I am troubled by teslas (and others) hide the big battery design. The current design says the consumer does not own it, and it can be disables remotely. Happened to a ride share user. Think about your problem on table now and if it was only one 50 lb pack vs the whole thing. Apple was the first company to remove the customer ability to replace a battery and low an behold the dirty bastards remotely disabled the battery’s on old devices to force the purchase of a new one. I can see some logistical problems and safety problems, but no more dangerous then regular car batteries (especially if designed right). The beauty of having removable packs is the cars life an value to the consumer is extended. See how they are long, you could easily have them removable from front or rear with the right design. I mean think of how dewalt makes it so ya can snap a battery in an out, ya know. Its a choice to make them hidden. Not much cost savings either, for the manufacturer.

Incorrectly built battery sorry tesla but there is no reason for a battery pack to not be completely sealed against water ingress. Worried about air expansion do what hard drives do with flexible bladders. The seal path for the battery case was also sub optimal making and torsion on the pack stress the sealant massively. It's annoying when hacks like Monroe go on about stamping and welding techniques and getting rid of indicator stalks meanwhile ignoring glaring errors like using a rubber grommet to seal a battery pack that's living inches from salt covered dirty wet roads. Laws should be put in place to make manufacturers replace any water damaged battery pack that's within warranty that hasn't been submerged more than 2m deep.
